The Killing: The Complete Fourth Season

HIGHLY RECOMMEND
A very riveting and addictive series, unlike other similar stories. This gets down deep and shows the chain reaction effect that crime has on all involved - from the victims and their families to those in law enforcement and at times their families - and the life-changing consequences for many. I found myself pulled in to the characters’ lives and their outcome. This is well-researched and well-written. And the actors became their characters.

Powerful and Raw
I loved watching Linden and Holder unwind the events of this case. As in each of these series, the viewer carries a dark foreboding throughout -- the truth is nearby and it promises to be ugly. I remained glued to the screen episode after episode, quite a feat that a one case/one season show can sustain this level of suspense.Despite its darkness, the show offers a refreshing break from the run of the mill cop shows where the detectives are strong, brave, well-adjusted and painfully glib. Linden and Holder are clearly human, if fact, both are damaged goods. Their jobs are fraught with horror and its clearly taken its toll. This bare humanness makes the drama more intense, believable and real.

Abbreviated Season but Brilliant!
Season 4, in its abbreviated state, was really just an answer to the outcry of devastated fans everywhere, and it does not disappoint. Yes, it's dark and gruesome, but it's depth of character and story line is the epitome of what fans fell in love with originally. You can never get enough of Holder and Linden and there was no way they could've cancelled the show after the cliff hanging ending to Season 3. I still tear up watching the final moments when Linden tells Holden: "...standing right in front of me...it's you. It's always been you."

Great plot twists and characters. Binge worthy
Love this show! It's an addiction! Great plot twists. Great for binge watching. Glad Amazon carries it since Netflix stopped carrying it in August.

SURE WISH THERE HAD BEEN MORE THAN 6 EPISODES
Linden and Holder. I loved these 2 very different cops from the first season of the Killing, even though neither of them solved that crime and sort of left us hanging. Season 2 finally cleared up the identity of Rosie Larsen's murderer and was darn good, but Season 3 was better when it introduced us to Linden's boyfriend, the cop/serial killer. The ending of Season 3 was so heart wrenching I just couldn't wait to order the DVD of the final season. I just wish there had been more of it. The ending? Let's just say, so as not to ruin it for everyone else, that it sure made me happy.

Excellent!
The acting in this is excellent! The characters are real and well-drawn—complex. It shows how the bad actions is one person have the domino effect in destroying others. Yet, it handles this dark message with moments of humor. I watch every year. It’s a profound work n the intricacies of human nature.

Excellent season to cap a superb series
What a non-stop thriller! The atmosphere, the plot and the characters are superb. It's best to watch season 3, as season 4 is a continuation of the previous season. Both the video and audio were excellent on my blu-ray player, even though these discs are not in the blu-ray format. I was concerned about the audio and video, as many people reported problems. Maybe they are now being created at a higher quality. Both Season 3 and 4 that I bought were of excellent quality.

Closure
This is a slightly different animal to the previous seasons of The Killing - a shorter, picking up the pieces type prospect. I'd say it's not up to the very high standards of previous years but it's still good stuff and provides a sense of closure for the characters we've followed throughout. We follow two distinct plot lines this time out - a grisly multiple murder involving a military academy and the fallout from the dramatic finale of Season 3. Fallout is the operative word as everybody is finding increasingly bitter ways to fall out with each other - Linden and Holder in particular seem to spend much of this year vying to see just who can be the worst human being. Both to themselves and others. The Killing has never been exactly sunshine and big smiles but there's much here that is especially depressing, it's often hard to see where any hope or salvation may be coming from. The central murder mystery proves to be satisfying enough but it's not as complex or compelling as what we've seen before. There's only six episodes and there's a lot to cram in so it takes a bit of a back seat at times. There are constant themes of family and parenthood at the forefront of both storylines which tie things together to a certain extent and having the new case bubbling along gives Linden and Holder something else important to do to distract from the carnage that may be about to erupt in their private lives.Overall, this is still essential viewing for fans of the show, it is of course the end. If you've already spent three turbulent years with this dynamic duo then you've gotta know how it all pans out.

Not the Nordic noir
If you followed the Nordic noir Killing season 1-3 then do not buy this DVD. There has obviously been an American version for which this is the final series. No where near up to the standard of the Swedish series. Dull, wishy washy plot, wooden acting. It really should be made clear that this is not a Nordic noir. So disappointed.

A good series that could've been a few more episodes longer ...
A good series that could've been a few more episodes longer for some reason the final season gets cut short with part of the season following on from the last season evolving the death of the detective.
