It works...YES...
We had a real problem with our 65 pound 1-year-old redbone coonhound going in the same place in the house. Both #1 & #2. Yuck! I went on to the old trusty Amazon and began looking at what is available reading many of the reviews... There are several choices in as many price ranges out there. It seems like each has its believers and naysayers. So what to do? So don't laugh too hard but I thought hmmm if I were a dog what would I want? This product offered it all. With a 65 pound dog, I wanted a solid surface that would not shift under him causing him to jump off and never go on it again, grass just like outside, large size so he could comfortably stand on it and easy cleanup. That's what I wanted and that's what I received. It's very pricey BUT... the alternative is not acceptable right? My theory is to buy the best and if it does not do as described send it back without any hesitation or guilt. When I received it, it was just as ordered. Very easy to setup. Not trying to be gross but this is what I did. I sat the box right next to where he goes in the house. He went there again, right next to the box. I grabbed some paper towels, held him there with me, soaked up the urine and put the paper towels on the grass of the new box, right in the center of the box. I then grabbed him by the collar and drug him onto the box. I then removed the paper towels. I kid you not, he then sniffed the spot where the towels were and urinated on that very spot. The true test was what would happen next time, would he go to the box? He did. In the beginning, he would only urinate there but now does #1 & #2. I praise him and give him a biscuit each and every time he goes there. Have there been accidents? Yes, but far and few between. I could not be happier with this product. Not a negative but the clips do not work. They were off almost immediately and he would carry them around. It doesn't matter for my guy as he doesn't get up there and scratch around or do that turning in circles thing, he jumps up, goes and is off. This product works and is worth every penny. Don't hesitate.

Great product!! I did use suggestions that helped others
I am going to explain in detail so you can understand the circumstances this of this little pup because due to our jobs he does not have the normal at home house time other pups do. Let me start by saying that my husband and I team drive (we both drive) a semi over the road, while I drive he sleeps and while he drives I sleep our truck does not usually stop. Solo drivers have a mandatory 10 hour shut down daily. With that said he is in a steady moving semi truck sometimes 24 hours a day with our (1) mandatory 30 min break each. We can not stop every 2 hours for potty breaks. We got him he was 8 weeks, could only hold it about 2 hours for his age and bladder. I got potty pads and put them down well. He peed all over the truck on my rugs and the pee pad too lol when we caught him we picked him up and put him on pad, a baby has to learn. OK then we had been out for 3 months straight so over Christmas holidays we took 6 weeks off and potty training started. I set the clock he went out to grass every 2 hours (he was 10 weeks at that point) and when he woke up and also after meals. So with treat in hand we went as soon as he pottied I gave him treat every single time around the clock, I slept thru alarm maybe 3 times it is very tiring but worth it in which I found he had climbed out of his area and pottied in front of door. I thought this was just fine he tried not his fault. He stayed mostly in a area I had blocked off size of play pen so he did not have chance to get out of site and potty if I saw him start to potty I said loud and firm no potty inside!!! Grab him and ran for door to grass if he finished outside he got treat if he got finished before I reached him well we went out but no potty grass no treat. No praise, rubs and all the good boys. I litterally watched him almost every waking hour I sat within reach of him. I only left when I had to and my husband watched him and walked him but not every 2 hours I am sure and prob didn't get a treat either lol. If he pottied inside I was not told about it and that would mean husband dropped the ball not the pup. Anyway after 6 weeks it's time to go back to work and stay in truck basically 24/7 pup 3 1/2months now can hold it for 3 to 3 1/2 hours well we can not stop constantly so I found pet loo on Amazon and read every single review and their suggestions, in my mind I was hoping he would use both, outside unless of emergency then pet looand pet loo so all that no sleep and hard work was not wasted. Well I took all the advice from different reviews I got the medium he weighed 18 pounds at vet. I bought the better grass it's soft like real grass hoping he didn't know it was fake lol. It is much heavier backing but does have drainage holes but a review said not enough of them so I took a box cutter and made many more by using the point punching thru not cutting slits. Got the apple smelling potty spray Go Here, sprayed in the middle only so all surrounding areas were if aim was for middle but little body not in midlle it would still be on the potty loo. Got a handful of grass from outside and sprinkled on the soft fake grass for real grass smell. I also got the wee care cleaner. Put powder in the container to catch urine and oder control and waited to see what happened. The first day back, we weren't in a hurry to deliver a load we stopped every 3 to 4,hours and he held it every single time one time he was in such hurry when we stopped I don't know how he held it. The potty loo was that day used to played on with his toys and he laid on it to sleep and I thought oh no glorified lounge area but still hopeful as pups do all those things on real grass. No pottying on it not 1 time but the next night we got to stop for few hours in between loads and as normal we both slept, I took him out before I went to sleep, this was in truck 48 hours by now. And I was so tired I slept with alarm set for 5 hours it was all I had and I needed it, I just knew he would not make it and for the first time since we started training I slept without setting alarm for 2 or 3 hours I needed that 5 straight through, I just knew he had went on floor while I slept. I checked his blanket the pet loo and the rugs all over and nope he did not, he was sleeping also so I figured at this age maybe that's why he held it little longer because he was sleeping. But then I had went to sleep while my husband was driving after we picked up our load and slept for prob 6 more hours I knew he stopped once for him but to my shock and surprise I just checked trey when I woke not expecting anything and oh my goodness it was a yellow spot of gel where he peed it went into the container and the powder had gelled it up. I was very happy and impressed he did it. I definitely did not want to really mess him up after all that training at home to think it was ok to potty on floor of truck even if there was a potty pad down or to confuse him after all those weeks of we can only use grass to now it is all different. And I found the potty loo and it wonderful it is very sturdy made I stepped on foot on it for step just to see it did not move or give at all. I am so thankful for all the reviews that made suggestions on what helped them, so that I got it right from the beginning. I definitely recommend this product and also adding grass they peed on is recommended and I understand why I just didn't have any when i set it up the potty loo in truck so I just got handful of real grass and it worked perfect.

Bad design - Huge waste of Money
We live downtown on the eighth floor with slow elevators that break down a lot so potty training a puppy was too hard without finding an indoor solution. We started with PupHead grass which was working ok for us the first 10 months of potty training until our bulldog outgrew it and stared relieving himself on the sides of the grass, spilling onto the floor. We purchased this product hoping that it would be easier to clean & use by our bulldog. In theory the Pet Loo being raised was the solution since he'd have to hop on. However once he jumped off for the first time the grass went flying & freaked him out to the point he would only use the grass if we placed him on & took him off. We ended up using screws to keep the grass from moving but he'd still be shaking in fear every time we put him on it. We left it out for him for about a month to see if he'd warm up to it himself, meanwhile taking him on his daily walks 3x a day. He never did warm up to it but he did end up holding his bowels while we where at work. Cons: Poor design - grass has rubber backing which takes days to dry fully & still slips under the weight of heavy dogs Horrible smell - I rinsed every time I'd place him on it with water & clean in twice a week in the tub and it still smelled worse than the Puphead grass Eye sore - other potty grass on the market don't look as cheap as this one Pros: SInce our dog was petrified of the thing it actually ended up potty training him. We now just take him out 3-4 times a day & he's doing fine not having a place to go in the loft anymore. If I had to do it all over again I'd buy the larger version of the pup grass we had before which was a bit more expensive. We ended up tossing the Pet Loo this weekend.... I guess you get what you pay for.

I was spending a fortune on Potty grass deliveries $60 p/w - for pupper for my balcony. I wished I had bought this earlier. To swap over - I put the real grass on top of this unit for a week until my pupper was used to going potty on it and gave her rewards each time and made a fuss over how clever she was. She uses this all the time now and it is great. I bought World's Best Cat Litter 12.7kg Multi Cat Lavender Scented (4.6 out of 5 stars) and fill the catcher with 3 cups of this weekly - there is no smell at all. (ITS FANTASTIC - BUY IT!) I wash the grass each week with natural dish soap in the bath and pour water over the unit to rinse it down once a week. Highly recommend this to any pupper owner :)

It works great, there won't be any issue with dog kicking out a litter pellet from the box since they won't be stepping on those. it reduces the cleaning the area around the box much more convenient. what is even more convenient is that the urine will be drained to a gutter to clean, making that slightly more convenient. Iust put a cat litter clay in it, scoop that area away and done. In exchange of that convenience, now you will have a grass pad retaining urine that won't dry as fast, making the box smell despite cleaning and give your dogs a wet urine feet to walk around your house. Not even hot water will get rid of the urine. To me, this is a quite a disappointment for such a high price on this.

I love this product BUT, I do NOT use the wee sponge powder at all and don't recommend it for the following reasons: 1. endless costs. 2. The used pod and gel have to be black binned. I'm not keen on creating more waste. 3. It may gel days worth of pee and lock in the odour, but it does NOTHING to keep the pee smell from building up in the turf, which will reek like pure evil in a week or two. Here is my system: 1. Get a big bottle of EZ Clean enzyme liquid. This is WAY better than Nature's Miracle or Scout as it's unscented (the others make your house smell like a clean dog kennel), it's safe (you can even spray down your lawn or pet with it if you have a skunking incident) and it's super concentrated, so 1 gallon can make up to 50 gallons of liquid. 2. Get one of those screw on bottle toppers for a plastic beverage bottle that turns the bottle into a sprinkler for plants [mine is a Bottle Cap Sprinkler, 2 In1 Mini Watering Can that looks like a little flower]. 3. Put an inch or two of EZ clean in a 1L water bottle (I use a big smart water bottle and it's perfect), and add the cap. Keep handy near the Pet Loo. 4. Put the empty plastic pee tray liner in without the gel 5. Once or twice a day, give your green topper a good sprinkling with the liquid. I use a cup or more. Wait 5 mins for it to drain through, then dump the pee tray, give it a quick swish with water, then replace it. Do not rinse off the ez clean. The enzymes need time to work. The enzyme will build up in your turf and be reactivated when the dog pees on it. It barely builds up any smell at all and the pee tray just gets dumped in your toilet. Seriously, I'm having to keep this thing in my bathroom right now (we're renovating) and there is zero smell. Trust me about the EZ Clean. Before I started this method my mats built up a ferocious stench. I was alternating between them and soaking the dirty one in pure nature's miracle overnight. I was using 1-2 gallons of natures miracle and month and hated the cheap perfume smell of the house, plus it only reduced the smell, but did not remove it. The cost of the Nature's Miracle and pee gelling powder was getting prohibitive and I needed to replace the top mat often. Yes, I tried buying astroturf from the hardware store. It did NOT work well. It's not porous enough and the pee rolled off, plus it was wasteful as I had to replace it a lot. Now I can hose off my mat really well every few weeks and it's fine. The enzymes really prevent pee buildup. FYI: to train your dog to use it, start by giving him a treat just for getting up on it. If it is on a slippery floor, put a bit of that nonslip material beneath it because if it slides it will make your dog hate it or fear it. Once the dog is getting up on it, you can start putting him there when it's pee time. I say "piddle" when he goes, and now he will piddle on command. He gets a liver snap when he pees on it. He's quite happy with it -- he sometimes tries to muster up some pee to get liver, heh. My dog is a toy fox terrier and he cannot go out on really cold days. This thing is a life saver.
