Disappointed in the Seller - not the Product
I have worn these shoes for years and love them. However, I recently lost a significant amount of weight and needed a smaller size. I was disappointed when I took these shoes out of the box and saw that they had been worn and broken in by someone else. The wear was not terribly significant. The instep was creased across both shoes and there was a long (2") scuff mark on the side of the right shoe. I am disabled and use a walker - and the shoes are going to get scuffed even more as I wear them. I do, however, resent a shoe being sold to me as "new" when it really isn't. There were short blond hairs on the sole. I am not a blond - and my cat is black! As a retired Hospital Chaplain, I find it a upsetting when a Seller sends me a "new" item - and the "new" is untrue. That is misrepresentation. It isn't worth it to me to return the shoes. I will wear them and my walker will scuff them a little more. However, now that I know what size I need, I will be ordering this shoe in 3 other colors from ANOTHER Seller!

Alas, poor Easy Spirit! I knew you well....
Over 10 years ago, I would have given these shoes 5 stars for quality and wear, hands down. However, this pair I've bought in the last year has not been as good quality as my older size 6 (that are now too small). I only wore them a few times because they made my right heel hurt so bad that I had a hard time walking the next day. I wore them today and figured out why they hurt my feet now, when the older pair did not; the newer pair failed structurally. The right heel padding is pulling away from the shoe and the padding underneath has all but disintegrated, leaving me walking on the rim of the sole. Either I got a shoe made on Friday at 1730, or Easy Spirit is no longer producing quality shoes. I hope it's the former. For now, I have managed to make these shoes wearable (several layers of moleskin tucked up under the heel's foot-bed seems to have helped). When the time comes to replace these, I am going to hesitate before I purchase another pair of Easy Spirits. Shame, too, because my Mom is a retired RN and worked in hers daily. She bought me my first pair over thirty years ago during my first (and pretty much last) job in retail.

Not Vogue material, simply sensible shoes
I've not worn this style before but took a chance in ordering them sight unseen. They are well made with a more pointed toe than other "sensible shoes," thereby feeling snug when first worn. Being that the supple leather stretches, I'm fine in wearing the size I normally wear, as long as I only use thin socks. There is no major arch support, so if you need to add them, you would benefit from ordering up in size. These are not sexy shoes, are not athletic shoes, are sort of frumpy, but I like them because they hug my feet and are not clunky. I can see why the style is popular and am impressed by the assortment of materials used. The black leather shoes I received were made in Ethiopia. I like to slip them on to walk the dog when I don't want to put on running shoes because they protect my feet more than sandals yet are just as light.

Good casual shoes but not for problematic feet
I need a medium or even a wide in my toe box due to a bad bunion, but a narrow in the heel -- an impossible combination except in walking/running shoes. In those, I can even wear a wide, because the heel collar holds my heel in place. These shoes, which I bought in a medium, were wide enough in the toe box, barely, but I walked right out of them as soon as I put them on. Also, the toe box is low (i.e., not deep) and won't accommodate any knarly toe knuckles. Finally, I forgot to check before buying them: the insole isn't removable and so can't acconmodate orthotics. All in all, a no-go. These might have worked for me 25 years ago, before my feet rebelled from too many years of stylish shoes (which promote bunions and hammer toes). The leather is soft and for someone with less complicated foot issues, these would be cute shoes for running errands or wearing to a semi-casual workplace. They are definitely much, much classier than athletic shoes.

I dislike the look of athletic shoes
I needed some lace up shoes for some support and comfort. I dislike the look of athletic shoes. These are an Oxford styled shoe with out thick ugly soles. They don't make my feet look huge. They are comfortable. I like the navy color; it blends with blue jeans. I also like the fact they are leather. They offer nice support. I wear a 10 B, and after reading the reviews that the shoe ran small, I ordered a 10 D. The shoe fits perfectly. These are comfortable to wear for a long walk, and the day that I run all the errands and do the grocery shopping. They look nice with jeans. The price was right. I only paid $39.00 vs. $79.00; not bad for leather.

These aren't the Easy Spirits you find in a mall
This version of wide shoe is 1/2" narrower than my other pair of Easy Spirit Women's Anti Gravity, Oxford Flat that I got at a brick & mortar store. I wouldn't even call this B or Medium width, but closer to narrow. Fortunately this shoe is soft sided, so I can break it in, but I won't be wearing it much for the first couple years while I do break it in. Also, the interior is so thin, no cushioning, no fleece side coating, nothing, it's more like a Payless Shoe Source knock off thinness shoe side, which since I get this particular type to wear in wet weather, the thinness will ensure my feet stay cold.I wouldn't recommend this particular style of shoe.

Excellent shoe
This is my second pair of these Easy Spirit Sport shoes. I do not like ordering shoes on line but my local shoe store no longer carries them. I ordered them in black so they could go with just about everything. Not for heavy duty athletic activity, the shoes are very comfortable and I especially appreciate their slenderizing appearance...not "clunky" looking at all. I ordered a wide width to accommodate bunions. There is not as much arch support as you will find in a heavier walking shoe but it is an extremely nice leather. They fit very well however the wide width does result in a very slight gap near the outside top of the shoe. In my opinion, this does not affect wear, comfort or appearance and will be minimized by wearing socks. I literally wore out my first pair and hope these will last as long.

Walking shoes
Although these are quite nice shoes and I am a fan of Easy Spirit shoes I did find them a little bit narrow, even though I bought the wide size shoes. The leather is nice and otherwise they seem reasonably comfortable for walking. I did wear them in the rain after spraying them with a protective coating and they held up very well. I always spray my leather shoes with a coating, although that may not always be necessary. Not really a bad shoe for the price.

comfort
One of the few pair of shoes that I have ever owned that I could just slip my orthotics into and wear all day with no foot pain what-so-ever.
