Great for pirate lovers and D&D enthusiasts
I got this thinking it might work well to hold some of my calligraphy pens but found it wouldn't fit for those very well. Instead, we use it to hold pencils and stuff for our D&D campaigns. It's a really cut fun design that mimics an old leather treasure map. It has several pockets and a strip of elastic sewn to hold several writing utensils or brushes. It wasn't long enough for many of my calligraphy pens (a mix of Glass, Bamboo, and feather w/metal nibs) but fits standard pens and pencils and shorter paint brushes well enough. The elastic isn't tight enough however to hold most of my paintbrushes which are thinner than a standard pencil/pen. There is a flap on the top which can keep them from falling out but nothing on the bottom so if the elastic doesn't hold it securely it just isn't worth putting them in those spots. This is why I settled on D&D use. Now we just keep a set of sharpened pencils in there at all times ready to go for a campaign. My kids have had friends play with them and they really liked the holder, it helps add to the whole role-playing ambiance. This isn't real leather of course it's a vinyl leather which looks nice and feels nice It's very soft and supple and the inside is more like a thin suede feel. It just rolls up and then to close and secure it you wrap the cord around it and tuck into place. The end has a little metal charm with a cheap plastic compass glued on it. To be honest I think it would have been better without the compass. It doesn't work very accurately anyways but it also runs the aesthetic to have cheap plastic mixed with what looks like old-timey leather and metal. It's not a deal-breaker and I could probably just pry it off the metal charms back but, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Cute PU Leather Pen/Pencil Holder
The description on this one states that this pencil case is made of PU Leather, while the heading doesn't say PU. Just be warned that you're getting PU leather. The case is really cute, and the pictures and description are accurate. I wish that it were a tad longer, long enough to use for long-handled paint brushes. It would be nice to have a paintbrush holder that is not generic black or natural canvas, but I digress. As shown in the Amazon photos, there is a little thong to tie around it with a small compass charm. I'm not sure if it works, but maybe it's Jack Sparrow's. :) There is plenty of room for drawing pens and pencils and wide enough pockets for a couple of other things like erasers, sharpeners, or tortillons. You could not put enough colored pencils in here to justify using it for that purpose, but it's fine for drawing pencils and pens, maybe even the Conte crayons/pencils or charcoal. Some small brushes will fit, in case you would like to carry one to do washes, but my favorite ones stuck out at the end, which would defeat the purpose in using this. However, it wasn't designed for brushes, and that was just wishful thinking on my part, so I'm not going to punish the manufacturer for my attempts to repurpose. :) So, I will still use this for pencils. It's very cute, the price is fair, and I'm glad I got it.

Attractive, But Needed Modification to Keep It Closed
I received the LYINIE Retro Roll up Pencil Case Leather Pen Bag,Pirate Treasure Map Pattern Pencil Holder Cosmetic Makeup Pouch with Compass Buckle for School/Office (Dark Brown). This is attractive and useful for holding my colored pencil sets when I go out. Right now I am using it on my desk for some expensive pens. It rolls up nicely and the little Compass/Charm actually works just fine, if you give it a little shake and then hold it level horizontally to read it.This Case does have a very strong odor, which was at 1st bothersome. The odor finally went away after being aired out for a few days.My only real complaint, besides that odor, is that it is a real pain to keep the case closed well! You have to slip the Compass/Charm end of the faux leather cord under itself, but that is not as easy as it should be.I finally cut the faux leather cord off and just use an actual long leather shoelace to wrap around the entire case several times, and then I tie the shoelace in a bow. I attached the Compass/Charm to the leather shoelace to keep that Pirate theme going.

Quality
It is very thin and cheaply made. I would prefer to pay more and get a better product

Perfect Gift for the Pirate Lover
My partner loves anything related to pirates, so I knew I had to get the LYINE Retro Roll up Pencil Case for him--and he loves it. It comes in a very nicely printed tube, which makes it highly giftable. The faux leather is of good quality (however, it's a bit more expensive looking in the photos than it is in person). The "leather" string that wraps around the pencil carrier once it is rolled up is adorened by a tiny compass on the end of it, which actually works despite it's miniature size (the advertising copy describes the compass as "exquisite", which is going some. In all, this is a quirky item that is uniquely suited to a particular category of people, but if you know one of those people, it makes a great gift.

Delightful And Useful
This LYINIE retro roll up leather pencil case is just perfect. The attached compass is cute and accurate. The leather is soft and the slots inside will accommodate both paint brushes, pencils and pens. There is plenty of room inside. Children will enjoy this for the usefulness, map and compass and adults will enjoy this for the cuteness, softness of the leather and how much room there is inside for either pens or art supplies. I just love it!!

Great Writing Utensil Vessel
Comes in an awesome giftable package. This was a huge hit with my pirate loving artist friend. The compass doesn’t work, but he didn’t care, he liked it as a decoration. This roll up pencil case holds 34 of his dual tip markers easily.
