Lots of fun for the whole family
We played the demo of this in Best Buy about two weeks before it came out. We played it for about 45 minutes and I pre-ordered as soon as we got back. It came yesterday, so this is a review of the full game ($120 version) after 1 day of playing for about 4 hours.Unlike the demo, it offers 5 levels of difficulty; beginner, easy, medium, hard and expert. My 8 year old son can score up to 3 stars on easy and I can score up to 3 stars on hard, so it's a very good balance and range of difficulty. Beginner and easy don't even use the crossfader. The tracks are also family friendly with bad words dropped out. Some may not like that, but I appreciated it. The tutorial was also very good and gets you going quickly. The track list is amazing and the mixes are super. They did a great job of mixing genres too, throwing together some songs I never would have expected to sound so good side by side. The timing of the button pushes and such is difficult at first but it gets a lot easier as your ear starts to hear the patterns in the mixes. Some people have said the learning curve is steep but I disagree... I found the drum kit in WT to be much harder to get the hang of.The only downside of the $120 version is not having a good stand for the device. I had to set up a card table which is kind of inconvenient. I hated holding the thing in my lap too, it's just too unsteady. All in all, the game is a lot of fun. The music is great and it's something that both the kids and I can all sit together and play, and no one is frustrated or left out. There's not too many games that fit that criteria. $120 is kind of steep, but for something that we can play as a family that we all enjoy, I'm good with that. And Daft Punk too... what more do you need?

you wont regret buying this
Remember how fun Guitar Hero was when it came out? Thats how good this is. The only problem is that Djing is not very popular, and so this game doesn't sell well (also because guitar hero floods the market with puney knock off games that annoy more than add to anything) but I digress--This game is simple, fun, innovative. YOU CANNOT FAIL A SONG! Although that may disconcern hardcore players, once you see how difficult expert mode can be on the hardest songs you'll know why. (I have yet to see youtube vids of the hardest songs 100%, is there no "Through the Fire and Flames" kid that can master this game?)The game replicates djing very well, and you get the general feel of manipulating music like a true dj does.however, being a decent DJ myself, I notice elements that are definately simplified for the game. For instance; many scractches require a lot of crossfading, this is hardly seen in the game, but when it is there it does feel harder and I understand why they didn't put it in more. Also, the controller platter is much more difficult to manipulate than a real record on a turntable. It is small and you HAVE to hold the side with your pinky if you are going to scratch at hard or expert difficulty, or you will not be able to control it good enough. This is the fault of the size of the record, it's too small and you have to scratch away at this little thing quickly, and it it much easier to perform the same scratches on real vinyl.THE MIXES RANGE FROM ENJOYABLE TO AWESOME; some are very creative others are kinda annoying or unstylish at times, but overall they are great.theres about 100 songs!! with GREAT DLCNevertheless this is a great game, and anyone who likes this syle of music should buy this game!

Not as good as guitar hero.
Title says it all. However, the design is intuitive. The turntable itself is fun (required) to play. I got this product on the cheap. No way I would have ever paid retail. The music in this game is pretty good, but don't listen to video game reviews about how great it is. If you get DJ Hero cheap, then you are going to have a good time. Until you beat the game...then the turntable just takes up space. Oh well. Cheers.
