Sturdy elastic band
Upon arrival, I'm happy with these bands.I am using them to keep a screen covering my 5 gallon buckets for gardening use.To keep the mosquitos out.● The bands feel sturdy.● The cloth covered elastic seems strong & stretches as you would expect it to stretch.● We'll just have to wait & see how long they last out in the weather.● If they last more than 3 years, the price will be a fair price to pay.I do have things I wish they would have added to their description. This would have been helpful to know:● The mm size of the band would be extremely helpful to know, in my case.● The description does not mention the cord's mm width/size.● For those of us with dexterity issues, it would be very helpful to have a recommendation for a cord lock size which fits these bands. Here's why:● I had to install "cord locks" on a few of these bands because of what I'm using them on.● I never knew what a cord lock was called until now since I had to order them!So if you need to use these too, maybe that info will be helpful?● The resting size of these cords are slightly too large to be TIGHT on a standard 5 gallon bucket. In other words, he resting size of this cord is just about the same as the circumference of a standard 5 gallon bucket sold in the U.S.With the circumference of the band being approximately half an inch smaller than the circumference of a 5 gallon bucket. This means the band will EASILY stretch and hold itself around the top of a 5 gallon bucket, but there isn't enough tension to hold a semi-stiff plastic screen in place. So the band would be able to hold a soft, flimsy piece of cloth, or a thin trash bag over it, just fine. But there's not enough tension to hold anything else with more body. The band certainly doesn't hold tight enough to keep a semi-stiff, (plastic - not metal) screen in place, over the top of a 5 gallon bucket.● I have rheumatoid arthritis so the suggestion of "tie a knot in the band to make it shorter"is just NOT an option for me!If I had tied a knot in it, then the tension would have been too strong for me to manipulate around the top of the bucket. But then, my strength in this type of task is not the same as the average person, it's much less.Which is why I opted to install a cord lock on the band.Had I known what size the cord was, then I would have been able to order the correct size cord lock.As it is now, I just borrowed one from a neighbor, and still have no idea what the cord size is.I ended up ordering 3 different cord lock sizes to use in the future, but haven't received them yet. I can try and update this later.● After installing a cord lock on the band, I was able to pull the cord tight enough around the top of a 5 gallon bucket to hold the screen in place.● When using it this way, this band is the perfect size.At this point I haven't used these cords in a place where they are stretched to their limits, nor have I had it long enough to test how it lasts in the weather. But for a small to medium amount of stretching, they are working great.

Works Well
I hate when I toss something a little heavy into the trash can and the bag sinks enough to slip off the sides. I saw these rubber bands on someone's list of best Amazon buys and if I had a list, I'd add these to mine. These hold the bag in place and look sturdy enough to last awhile. A few weeks after I purchased these, I saw a similar product at a hardware store for more than 2X the Amazon price. The only negative is that I forget one is in place and when I pull the full bag up, the band flies off. This is a human error and not the fault of the band.

Something so simple made me so happy...
This works like a charm. I have those in-cabinet garbage containers. Could NOT find a bag that wouldn't fall off the edges all the time. These little critters do the the trick! Easy on and off and no more digging for the edges of the bag (gross). Well worth it!
