The award of 5 stars is because the book achieves all it sets out to do: to be a really simple, clear introduction to the French language. The book and CD will be a help to children and adult beginners equally. There is nothing in this book that you will need to un-learn once you move on to advanced books.In the early days of using advanced books, you can refer back to the Usborne book when needing practice material. That way the Usborne book gets a second outing. Once you are sure that the Usborne book has served all your needs, you can let it go to any child, who is learning French.The drawings are clear and helpful. A lot of thought has gone into producing the book. To use simple words, it is a nice little book.

Good basic starter book which at the same time covers lots of different situations, giving you quite a wide range of possible conversations - without going too in depth. ie. Subjects such as about - family, hobbies, directions. Some of these books akso have an audio cd. If you want the cd as well, make sure you buy a book with a picture on the front covers bottom right corner.

The content of the book is good, but I had to return it as it was in poor condition. I therefore didn't listen to the CD. However, I had a previous copy years ago and it's very useful for beginners and intermediate learners.

I gave this a 5 star rating because it's exactly what it says it is - having learned French at school many years ago I wanted something that was not too difficult to refresh my memory and this is a fun way to learn French again - it's for all ages - whether you are a child or just starting out learning a new language I think this is a brilliant introduction.

Bought it to try and help me learn french, was disappointed and found the pages to cluttered to be able to hold my concentration, put with my other 'learn french' books

Je m'en suis servi pas mal pour des cours à des élèves asiatiques et la forme, les contenus sont faciles à travailler et plaisent assez bien. les points de grammaire sont sûrement insuffisants mais les dialogues, certaines situations m'ont permis de bien faire passer les notions. Comme c'est en anglais pour les explications, c'est beaucoup plus facile à utiliser avec des élèves qui ne connaissaient pas un mot de français. Et pour moi, qui maîtrise mal l'anglais, cela m'a été grandement utile car les phrases en anglais sont assez courtes et faciles à comprendre.

Our French program bought a lot of these for the kids whose ages range from 6 to 12 years old. Some of theme use them so much that the covers are already worn out. They all seem so happy to have this vocabulary book.

Bought this for my husband to learn french on the road. We live in a french community and the only problem with this is that it is a french from a true french that we do 't speak here. But it is a great learning tool for sure
