A beautifully done reference.
“ CLASSIC LIGHT AIRCRAFT “ by Ron Smith is a difficult book to go through, not because of how it is laid out, or because of the information contained in this excellent book. It is because this reference is a massive collection of photographs and supporting information, the photos mostly taken over time by the author as well as some from his twin brother’s collection. Other select photos are credited to recognized aviation photographers There are 408 pages of photos, each given a description and details of the subject, over 800 in all. The layout is by the aircraft manufacturer, alphabetically A-to-Z. The book’s bibliography shows many recognized sources and experts so the information can be counted on for its accuracy.I have been wanting to write this review since the book was delivered over a week ago. However, I keep getting lost in the details and enjoying the wonderful photography. With photos taken all over the world, there are many aircraft that I am embarrassed to admit that I have never heard of or about. The more time spent with the book yields new discoveries, then taking the time to absorb the details and enjoy the ‘ eye-candy ‘ provided from the wonderful photographs.Obtain a copy of “ CLASSIC LIGHT AIRCRAFT “ for your library. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful resource for the armchair aviator, serious tail spotter and pilot alike.
I am the Museum Director of the Marathon Air Museum in The Florida Keys. We were searching for a table top book of general aviation aircraft for our museum visitors and members. This book fit the bill perfectly. It is arranged in an A to Z format by manufacturer and contains over 800 aircraft entries. This is not an indepth look on each aircraft but more of a half page snipet of facts and history. You will discover dozens upon dozens of aircraft you never knew existed paired with stunning high res photography to boot. Our EAA Chapter members practically fight over the book each morning. Thanks Mr R Smith! Just what we were looking for down at the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport. Regards Paul G

Excellent reference for plane spotters
Ron's book is the most thorough and complete reference work on civil light aircraft I have ever read. More than 800 types are described in detail with the subtle differences between models identified. Every aircraft type has a photograph that highlights the features for easy identification. Sever 'warbirds' that have entered the civil market are included.I particularly liked the coverage of aircraft not commonly found in the United States, something I know little about.

Great Book
The photos are great and I loved learning about aircraft types I didn't know about. It's a handy reference and fun to pick up and leaf through during spare moments, always find something new, old but new.

Good reference for airport workers.
This is a good book for airport workers that work around general aviation aircraft. There is a lot of information out there on air carrier aircraft, but not much on light aircraft. This helps fill that void.
