OspreyArcane Roll Top Commuter Backpack, Stonewash Black

Im a college student and a big hiker! My last backpack i found at Goodwill for 4 dollars and i say this because I dont like spending money on things that I know ill be replacing every year/season. This backpack though, oooh lemme tell you something! My friend had one and let me look at his and i was instantly sold.I primarily use it as my school bag for college but i did take it with me for a 3 day hiking trip to the smoky mountains over spring break and wow it works great for both!! Its not meant for long backpacking trips with LOTS to pack but it definitely can hold a computer, ipad, three medium books, headphones and case and all the necessary charging accessories just in the big rolltop compartment alone.My two criticisms are that there is only one water bottle pocket on a single side, while the other side is flat without any pockets/utility. Also the pencil/tiny pockets are located in the big compartment and not the outer small compartment which makes little sense to me since the extra 6inches of the rolltop makes seeing into the bag nearly impossible so goodluck finding your favorite mechanic pencil solely by touch… still confused why they didnt make another compartment (for pens or pencils perhaps) on the adjacent side to where the water bottle pocket is but oh well :/Definitely worth the money as it’s made VERY well and after hiking 10k in elevation and an entire college semester everything is still super solid and new-feeling still.

I travel a lot in remote areas and the first thing that usually goes is the cheap zippers so I wanted something to remove the zipper out of the equation. I was skeptical but after receiving the bag it is made out of solid material with metal buckles. I have no doubt this will be an excellent option out in the field.

I'm never without this bag, I take it *everywhere*. It holds my chargers, 2 laptops, Switch, water bottle, toiletries, multi tool, sun glasses, notebook, wallet, keys... And much more, with room to spare.It's durable, spacious, stylish.I do wish it had some way to tighten the roll a little better. Sometimes it unrolls a bit, and looks a little goofy.Overall fantastic bag, I have zero regret buying this bag whatsoever.

Amazing quality and security features! Super comfortable, padded should straps help cushion any weight. The padded laptop slot feels secure and helps protect from the outside world. The backpack feels very secure against thieves and pick pockets, the main compartment is impossible to access when worn without you realizing it. There is also a metal clip on one of the straps so you can secure it to a table or chair when working in the library or public setting to prevent a drive by stealing of your bag. Overall very impressed and decently priced for the product, my new daily backpack for college.

There are some seriously annoying design flaws when I compare this to another rolltop I own (A topo designs bag). There's no strap at the bottom of the pack to pull downward when trying to get something that compressed into the rolltop from the top. Additionally, the top strap it too short to fill it up to the brim which is has been a big factor of why I wanted a rolltop to begin with. The interior fabric is not light colored, so it's hard to see items inside the big black hole which is the bag, and the latch that closes the top is not convenient to close, especially with one hand because the fabric loop is very tight and stiff. The bag is not water proofed, and doesn't come with an optional sternum strap to carry heavier loads. the external pocket is too small to fit even a pretty light puffer in the airport for example, and it not convenient to attach a bike helmet either. The laptop compartment is not well padded, and it is hard to fit in a laptop when the bag is full.HOWEVER, the bag is light, it is pretty stylish for a performance-ish bag, it feels well made, the back system feel higher quality than my topo bag, and it is also seems extremely breathable and airy. I'd say this is a good bag for warmish weather and light city usage, but not great for travel or biking around with lots of stuff.

Very solid and well made. Holds everything I need for the work and workout. Looks great. Love it!

Osprey ist bekannt für seine gute Qualität, was Rucksäcke an geht. Bei diesem Rucksack wird man da auch nicht enttäuscht. Wertig verarbeitet wie man es auch von den Wanderrucksäcken her kennt, ich würde sogar sagen, noch um ein deutliches robuster (geschuldet natürlich auf das Gewicht und die Materialen).Was etwas störend ist, daher auch nur 4 Sterne. Will man diesen Rucksack fürs Pendeln nutzen, ist der innenraum etwas zu eng gestalltet. Rechner geht natürlich super rein, allerdings will man bspw gerne noch ne kleine Thermoskanne oder Dinge wie eine Brotdose oder ähnliches mit nehmen, wird es ziemlich eng im unteren Bereich. Was auch schwierig ist, wenn man noch Unterlagen mit nehmen möchte. Ein Aktenordner würde bspw nicht hinein passen.Ich würde mir wünsche wenn der Rucksack im unteren Bereich noch etwas bauchiger wäre, bzw etwas mehr Raum hätte. Super wäre auch, wenn man außen, wie bei den Wanderrucksäcken, ein flexibles unauffälliges Mesh hätte, in dem man bspw auch mal eine Regenjacke unter bekommt. Es gibt zwar flexiblen Stoff als Außentasche, aber da bekommt man höchstens einen Müsliriegel hinein.

Klasse Rucksack, viel stauvermögenLeider bisschen unübersichtlich, das ist aber bei dem Design normal. Vorteil eben mehr Platz aufrollen weniger einrollen und schön kompakt und doch ist noch Luft nach oben, sollte man unterwegs sein und sich Pläne ändern.Super :)
