Free Willy (Snap Case)

Jesse, an orphaned child, slips into a theme park and is given foster parents and forced to work there to make amends. Jesse meets Willy, a young orca whale abandoned by his family, there. They get along wonderfully.After sensing a connection, the kid and the whale build a pattern of tricks with the assistance of a whale trainer. When the pair becomes recognized, the ruthless park owner plans to take advantage of them.Despite a clichéd plot and some mediocre acting, this film expertly pricks the emotions of everyone who views it. This is a children's film, but it is also suitable for adults and families. This film has the power to make you tear-up since it deals with timeless topics like love, loss, trust, and forgiveness.

My 8 yr old fell in love ! Now we have to rent part 2

Such a good job mixing the cgi with live footage of orcas! I could only tell because of the type of scene being shown which was which. Seriously good film effects that don't detract from the immersion.Bindi Irwin was adorable as the idealistic wildlife warrior who resents being sent away! Beau Bridges was excellent as the grandfather with regrets. The supporting cast were also quite fun as the supportive "chosen" friends and family. The villian was portrayed with just the right amount of greed and evil balanced against 'man desperate to make a name for himself'.There was a nice mix of humor, danger, fun, and sadness to the story, as well as triumph of the underdog. Nicely done!

a recommander et rapide

Als Free Willy 1993 in die Kinos kam, war ich 10 Jahre alt. Ich kann mich noch gut daran erinnern wie toll ich den Film damals fand.Mittlerweile sind einige Jahre ins Land gegangen und ich bin selbst Vater von vier Kindern. Gemeinsam Filme zu schauen ist Teil unseres Alltags und ich habe mich riesig darauf gefreut ihnen diesen zu zeigen. Und auch wenn ich es nicht mit 100%iger Sicherheit sagen kann, so hatte ich doch das Gefühl, dass meine Kinder den Film ähnlich toll fanden wie ich damals.Für mich hat er nichts von seiner Faszination verloren. Die Geschichte ist spannend erzählt, die Charaktere sind sympathisch (vor allem Jesse ist ideal besetzt) und die Botschaft wichtig (an dieser Stelle möchte ich auf die Doku 'Blackfish' hinweisen).Was ich bisher nicht verstanden habe ist die Tatsache, dass der Film bisher noch nicht auf Blu-ray veröffentlicht wurde. Die Bildqualität der DVD ist aber erstaunlich gut, so dass ich auch hier eine Empfehlung für diejenigen aussprechen kann, die normalerweise nur Blu-ray und/oder UHD in ihre Sammlung aufnehmen.
