Secrets of Chinese Karate

The fundamentals are there.
As someone who has trained in oriental Martial arts, I highly recommend this book. The techniques, training exercises and illustrations in this book are on point. My only real gripe about the American Kenpo system, is that it has an identity crisis. Some of the phrasing is wrong and they can't decide whether they're Chinese or Japanese. But that is my only gripe.

Karate Book
A great book. I had loaned my original one to a friend which came with a yellow cover and never got it back. This book is very informative and well written. Most people don’t know but it was the historical backdrop used for the old kung fu series starring David Carradine

A good book on early US views of martial arts, and also a very good historical reference for American Kenpo Karate
This book is one of the first, if not the first martial arts book written by Ed Parker. Anyone who is a student of American Kenpo Karate and interested in the way Ed Parker thought before he fully evolved Kenpo Karate should get this book. The book itself is valid as a standalone book on martial arts, but I found the greatest value for me personally was to understand how Ed Parker regarded his art and martial arts in general at this early stage in his martial arts life. I have the highest regard for Ed Parker, but I think some of his views expressed in this book would have changed by the time American Kenpo Karate was developed to the stage where he wrote his Infinite Insight books.

Deserves a place on your book shelf.
A good read for any martial art student interested in the history of Karate. A pity he did not write more on the influence of Chinese Kungfu, wushu. on most of today's martial arts.
