Very informative and helpful.
Absolutely loved this book. I am picking up her "new version" titled "Cracking the Tech Career". Gayle mentions on Quora that The Google Resume is being discontinued, but I still think that it's a great read. It really helped me narrow down what was truly important to put on my resume, and what was just garbage that did not belong.

Such a great book for making resumes focus on what matters to the recruiters. But it goes beyond just resumes, and also talks about how to acquire relevant skills and experiences to line up with the the job seekers' goals. The advice and insights are very helpful!

You should get the other book by this author (Cracking the Coding Interview). That book has everything this book does, plus it helps you prepare for the technical aspects of the interview with programming practice problems.

Step One: the resume
This book gives a young insider's perspective on internal recruiting at Apple, Microsoft, and Google. These are huge companies and there are similarities in their recruiting process. I don't endorsethe emphasis of trying to discover aptitudes over experience or even accomplishments. The authordid not create the recruiting process; she's just reporting it.No matter how long you've been in the computer business, you should consider writing a one page editionof your resume. This book shows you how to organize to standout in the long list of resumes reviewed. This is a short and easy to read book. It is also very inexpensive. Considering how much time andmoney you've already invested in getting to the point of applying to these top computer companies, thisis a tiny cost.

tiresome, obvious
All the useful information in this book could probably have been condensed into a few pages. Most of the practical advice is stuff you could predict. There's a few insights into very specific mega-corps, and a few examples of good answers to particular interview questions. Otherwise, a great deal of tiresome anecdotes.

Great book
Great book for those who are pursuing career in Google, MIcrosoft, Amazon, Apple or other big companies. But this book was too much for me to take. You've to be on that coding and preparation level to understand this book properly.

Very Precise and handy!
Google Resume is actually a pretty good guide for aspiring IT professionals looking to get into the top notch companies like Microsoft and Google. It presents many ins and outs of the entire procedure. It helps us to step into the shoes of the recruiter and hence we have a clear image of the qualities that we would require for cracking the interview. It also breaks the age old myth that GPA is everything by bringing up cases where the individuals weren't selected on the basis of GPA, and hence gives us alternative ways to polish our skills. It is a good read nevertheless.

Absolutely worth buying, if you're looking for a job at US tech company.
This book helped me to upgrade my boring resume to extremely attractive one. I've sent tons of resumes but couldn't make a single positive response. But, Just like a magic, I got a quick response from well known tech company in Silicon Valley when I refined my cover letter and resume with this book. I strongly suggest this book if you're looking for a job at any US tech company.
