OptimusFuel Bottle with Child Safe Cap, .6-Liter

I purchased 2 of these for carrying the different fuels I sometimes use while on backpacking trips. They are very well made and a bit less expensive than some of the others on the market. My only dislike (which has nothing to do with it's quality) was the child proof cap that comes with it. In my mind, something that is made of pieces has a greater chance of failure and leakaage, thus I also purchased 2 normal screw on caps to replace those. I am not in an environment where children are a concern so did not need the provided child proof caps. You will find these to be extremely light weight and easy to store in or on your backpack. Good product, good price, works well = no worries.

My second purchase of this size fuel bottle from Optimus. This bottle hold just the amount of fuel needed for a day out with the Optimus Nova stove. I like to keep a backup bottle of fuel.....just in case more is needed. I tried the MSR bottle but found that the fit was not as good as the Optimus bottle when attaching the fuel pump. Fast shipping from Amazon and a very competitive price considering the availability of this size fuel bottle.

The .6L holds enough for my style cooking for a week solo with leftover fuel. Its an easy to manage weight and size in the food pack and seems built very well. I already had msr bottles but read suggestions to use this brand with the optimus stove because the seals were different styles, not sure it really matters but to be on the safe side I followed the suggestions.

Bottle is great and well made. The problem is the cap is cheaply made and the ring top will pop off quite easily leaving you with a lost bottle or spring out in the woods. Also cap is very difficult even for an adult to tighten and open properly as it slips inside and doesn't grab the notch to let it turn well. Pricey so should come with better cap. Recommend the bottle, just get it with the regular cap.

Doing trail work I needed something to carry extra chainsaw bar oil in that would not leak and in a size to fit comfortably in into my pack this bottle works beautifully for that task also being green I don’t mix it up with the gas.

The child proof caps sucks, but there they are required to sell it with this type of cap. I ordered the Optimus Expedition Caps for Fuel Bottle caps from Amazon, and they work great. You may want to order them both together (unless your kid gets into your stuff and drinks it--in which case, you might want to watch your kid and keep the child safe caps).

This bottle is advertised as a .6 liter bottle and it is certainly not! It says 450 ml or 15.2 ounces right on the bottle. For those that are wondering 450 ml. is .45 liters not .6 liters which would be equivalent to 20.2 ounces! I know how much fuel I need to carry and we are talking about 5 ounces of fuel difference which is a lot when you are out backpacking! How they are allowed to get away with this is amazing! I am returning my purchase as I write this but wanted to pass this along in case someone else was about to make the same mistake! Amazon - please talk to these guys and set them straight!
