It was a little difficult with the screws into the metal

So I previously bought the composite/aluminum version of this gearbox and that one was great until I discovered a major flaw that wasn't readily noticeable until a few runs later. Apparently, there's quite a bit of slop where the drive shaft and pinion gear sit inside the gearbox. This in/out slop, over time, will cause the lock pinned metal clutch body to rub against the aluminum body of the gearbox and wear into it quite a bit. So far, this gearbox does not have that issue, fingers crossed!

Definitely helps lower temps plus letting you run a motor heatsink. The way the rear bumper mounts is not good for bashing. I actually broke one of mounting holes for the bumper and had to order a new case just for the plate. With a better mounting bumper (rpm) the plate still bends and the bumper is no where near as sturdy as it was with stock trans case

I used this gear box to install a bigger motor on a Traxxas Slash. No problems at all...

Awesome product from an awesome seller. This was an upgrade from my previous hot racing composite tranny case with aluminum motor mount. The full aluminum case is an upgrade in more ways than one; the piece that retains the suspension arm pin on the tranny side is fixed to the transmission case via screws inside the case which makes it easier to install the tranny case. There are a few mounting points which ripped out on the composite case; the aluminum is much stronger. Also having an overpowered brushless system on 4s lipos the composite case would tend to flex which leads to misalignment of the internal gears and eventually failure.

I have no prior RC car experience, I just know that I bought a 1/8 motor for my 1/10 traxxas rustler. Transferring everything into the new gearbox was easy peasy. Remember to put on the little wing-things that hold the hinge pins for the suspension arms first!Quality seems high, aluminum is hardened, paint job is consistent and has yet to scratch/chip. Fits 1/8 motor (castle 2200kv 1515) and stock gearbox guts.You will have hardware left over, still not positive what the standoffs are for. Not a problem.

Paired this with the integy spur gear (don't buy the integy as it is threaded gear that unthreads its self into your tranny causing damage) once paired with metal gears and a 4000kv brushless, it's as fast as my 3s 4x4 slash, is a solid unit built for punishment, make sure to shim

So much better than the stock Slash 2wd transmission, perfect fit keeps, tight tolerances, keeps engine much cooler. When combined with Hot Racing Aluminum sealed diff and Robinson Racing Slipper clutch and all metal gears you can't go wrong! I purchased my second one for my new touring car build.
