Iron Spy: The True Story of the Greatest Double Agent in World War II (Espionage)

Chapman, Eddie Chapman
It's flip to say that truth is stranger than fiction, but in this case truth may have helped inspire fiction. In the midst of this matter of fast yet engrossing tale is a note that the double agent knew Ian Fleming, who wrote about a certain secret agent... I digress.Eddie Chapman's story is well written, from his start as a bored thief to the height of his work as a well trained, motivated (by romance or lust, but still motivated) agent working for Britain. And Germany. During the Second World War, which is improbable, daring, and heroic. The book follows Eddie through the remainder of his post-war life as well.I'm no scholar of history, yet found this book intriguing and would read more from this author. An example of the writing: "His efforts ensured that the Germans didn’t gain more of a foothold and hastened the end of the war. While it is likely that the Allies would have still won the war without Eddie’s help, it is also likely that the war could have carried on for longer, causing the death of many thousands more people. Agent Zigzag was the perfect moniker for Eddie Chapman. He tap-danced along the fine line between good and bad, certainly during the war, where to he played his German spymasters perfectly. Eddie never stopped zigging and zagging throughout his life."

Not very good.
I didn't check out the page count before I bought this book, and I should have. This is a thin book. On top of that, it seems to be written for someone in middle school. The subject matter is interesting enough, but you can read this book in about an hour.

Spy secrets usually stay secret.
This book is well written and follows a good storyline.Early on there was quite a bit of conjecture and a sympathetic tone to the subject.I suspect this is a normal reaction for an author. But it made me a bit uncomfortable both in the beginning and again in its close. However,I did enjoy this book.

Interesting story of a double agent
This is story of Eddie Chapman, criminal turned double spy in WWII. It is a relatively short story highlighting his exploits for Great Britain while also deceiving the Germans. I would have like more detail but also realize there may be other reasons for that. Still it was a quick look into life during the war.

Iron Spy: The True Story of the Greatest
I received this book as an Arc from the author. I do like historical books and this story is fascinating! This man could’ve been the original James Bond! He did have a dishonorable side however. Highly recommended!

It was really a good read that went very fast!
This was a great read! It read like well written thriller fiction and showed pieces on a history that I had never heard before

Not impressed.
Every single page in the book is counted toward its total page count, even the copyright page, the table of contents, etc. discounting those, the text from chapter 1 to the end is only 116 pages (with double-spaced lines in a large font size!) No sources for the information contained therein is provided. There is no bibliography. I’m very disappointed.

Quick read
I was disappointed because the book was so short. The type is huge - that may be good if you can’t read without glasses but there really isn’t much content. Fascinating story though.

Incredible read from Ethan Quinn!
The latest read from Ethan Quinn is a page-turner of an espionage biography. The amazing story of Eddie Chapman until now has been a long lost secret within 20th century wartime history.A great piece of writing from Ethan Quinn to bring this important piece of history to life.

Another ‘riveting read’ from Ethan
Another true tale of little known ‘derring - do’ by Ethan. A very insightful read of the life of an oft flawed character who demonstrated steely heroism during the Second World War - masterful!
