Q: Do these hold up well if you get them wet?

I took them on vacation for a week. Wore them at the beach,and around the pool. They were wet and covered with sand. no problems yet.

Q: What does the "d" stand for in the size description 9 d(m) us?

The d means it’s a standard size for men. E is wide 2E extra wide.

Q: half size up or down?

I disagree w/ the other contributors that advocate sizing up. I wear a 10.5 in athletic and dress shoes and when 1st ordering I struggled w/ the same question and decided to try the 10s. I found the 10s to fit perfectly with sufficient room both beyond my toes and behind my heels. I have a pair of spenco's from several years ago and did the opposite, but regret my decision to keep them. Yes I can wear them .. the 11s aren't terribly big but they are a bit big and importantly the strap across the top of my feet are a bit loose making it not as easy/ comfortable to walk in. So for me, I'd size down - not up.
