They cut copper and aluminum wire fine. They're not for steel cable ! This is why you see negative reviews. People that don't understand tools go and try cutting stainless cable. This is the wrong tool for that. I guess the description should really say "Electrical Cable Cutters" because that's what these are . There are good cutters for stainless on here. I got these to help me with my crafts, They cut through the dowels like butter. Really happy with my purchase, I definitely recommend these to others who do crafts as well where you’re working with dowels.

I am a DIYer and undertook the task of installing new speakers, an amp, a new stereo, LED lights, and a second battery on a 2020 SunTracker pontoon boat. I scoured the internet looking for quality wire cutters that could easily handle up to 4 AWG wires. I had a significant amount of cables to install to support the amp and second battery, along with a new battery switch. The wire cutters easily and cleanly cut the 4 AWG cables, along with many smaller AWG wires. The longer handles made it very simple to cut the thicker cable. Great product.

These type of cable cutters were recommended by HP Academy in their automotive wiring class. I think they are intended for cutting battery and grounding cables.I tested them out on some 12A Romex and they cut it with no effort so I think they will go through stranded cable easily. The overlap is flush and they make clean cuts.The cutting edge is a bit ragged so I’d taking one star off. This could be remedied in the shop with a fine file or some time with an emery cloth to smooth off the tapered cutting edge and remove the rough surface.

This product is easy to use.

Excellent for light work that doesn't need to be millimeter precise. I had tonaually remove a burr, but through the heavy gauge wire I've put it through so far, it has worked fine. You can spend more but the improvements in my use, aren't worth it. It probably won't be an heirloom tool, but if it gets lost or breaks I won't be heartbroken either. Overall, it will work fine for your projects.

Bought these for a project running 6-3 romex. Based on the size, they do a fine job cutting the individual 6 gauge conductors with little effort. With a bit more physical effort, cutting through all 3 conductors plus a ground is doable. Of course, a ratcheting version make this task much easier.Overall, quality seems very good for the price, the cutting surfaces were sharp and seem to have good edge retention. They are a good size to throw in a tool bag. As long as you keep your expectations realistic, based on the design of the tool, they should serve you well.
