Q: Would this work on wood speakers painted to a glossy finish? Want to make them matte...

Probably not. I’ve found this product makes things look dusty not really matte. It’s like there’s a layer of film on the object

Q: If I use this to seal a rock and then place the rock under a tree, will the sealant leak into the soil and poison the tree's roots?

It should not leak. I spray my painted rocks to withstand the weather conditions. Of course, I spray the rocks outside because it is toxic and smelly for indoors when first spayed but once dried and sealed, there should be no leakage to the soil or tree roots. I have not tested the durability of the seal outdoors for a period of time but it should last for a while.

Q: Does this work on crepe paper?

I've never tried it on crepe paper. But I use it in card making to make sure my glitter stays on the paper and doesn't fall off. I also have tried it on paints to me sure they are set. What kind of crepe paper are you using... very thin or a little more sturdy? I should think it would work.
