Excellent half pound increment soft weights
I had been using more tradition weights until a recent health issue made it difficult for me to carry even one pound in my right hand. I looked for and found these soft weights which move in increments of 8 ounces. This is perfect for my use. I am using my traditional weights in my left hand and these in my right. I am currently using the 8 ounce and will move to 1 pound then to 1.5 pounds, etc. until I am at three pounds. From there, I hope to be able to move up again in pound increments as the soft weights get progressively larger and may be difficult for me to hold at even larger weights. This was absolutely a great answer to my need for a lighter weight. I enjoy the feel of the weight in my hand and can recommend it to anyone who needs a lighter weight. If my picture comes through, you will see the size in comparison to my hand. I have an average to larger size hand for a woman (I weight a size 8.5 ring and a 7.5 bracelet.

not filled with natural sand, problem with ring
The bag is filled with small metallic balls., each is no wider in diameter than 1mm. Sand simply doesn't have the density to fill a 6 o 8 lb bag that fits into the palm of your hand. Metal balls have the density. Again there is ZERO natural sand in these weights, which is important if you wish to travel with them. Airport security may wish to investigate a sack of metal balls.I own many of these and use for therapy. I would have given 4 or 5 stars if not for a design defect. Each bag comes with a metal, gold-colored ring to be connected to a rope or carabiner. I attach them to a 1.5 inch o-ring gated carabiner which I connected to a small nylon sling. If the sling elevates the weight 2-3 inches above the ground in a fixed position for couple of hours, the bag will dislodge from its gold ring. In the other words, the gold ring isn't sealed well to the bag which holds the metal balls. It's too easy to break the seal. The weight of the metal balls will eventually break the seal if the gold ring is asked to secure the weight. The problem doesn't appear to be in the materials. It's a manufacturing issue. So sure...if you keep the weight in your hand, you won't experience a problem. But if you use the gold ring to secure the weight to a fixed position, it will eventually create a problem. 1 and 2 lb weights are fine. Three or more lbs will reveal the problem.

You only get 1!!
It is really hard to find soft weights that are over 3 pounds. The arthritis in my thumbs make regular hand weights hard to hold. I thought that $21 seemed a little high for hand weights, but thought I'd give it a try. The single weight I got was really nicely balanced and just what I needed in terms of weight. However for that price, I really expected a pair of weights. Trying to decide if I want to invest another $21 to get the second weight, or just write the whole thing off as a bad investment. I really need to read descriptions more closely, so two stars for me, as well, for not paying more attention.

Better than resistance bands.
Awesome for rehab. Very gradual weight increases. Can hold the 1/2 pound weight with the other sizes for even more gradual weight increases.

0.5 lb cando weight
surprisingly comfortable !i have a 1 lb neoprene dumbbell of normal kind and this is more comfortable to grip. it also seems sturdy. i wish i had gotten the Cando for the 1lb too.please note my review is specifically for 0.5 lb weight. larger weights will obviously be different physical size and may or may not be as comfortable to hold. my hand is average size male hand.i would probably use regular dumbbells for sizes from 2.5 lbs and up, but when you need super light weight this is the ticket.
