Arrival [Blu-ray] [2016] [Region B & C]

Absolutely brilliant film. Can't believe I waited that long to see it.Acting was on point. CGI was great. Left us with loads to discuss. Really enjoyed!

I absolutely loved this film on my first viewing, great casting obviously helps. While I still enjoy Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, Predator Et Al. movies like Arrival are in a different class, like Interstellar, you can't look away for a second or you may miss an important part of the storytelling. TIme travel can be very complicated or relatively easy to follow, like the terminator movies, it's also refreshing to watch a movie that challenges your linear thinking processes. I have watched this a number of times and the highest praise I can give it is that I have enjoyed it just as much on each viewing, I just think they got everything right, for me, it felt like I was witnessing a real event, it was actually happening.One of the most important considerations is how the Aliens will look and behave, I have seen so many movies and they are just variations on another movie or tv series, it was a brilliant idea to have the heptapods look the way they do and communicate mostly via circular symbols and the challenge for the humans to decipher it as quickly as they could.The sad part of the plot while an important part of the storytelling also made you think on another level, if you knew the future, would you change it or let the good and bad happen, in this instance the outcome can't be changed, so the decision and choice is incredibly difficult.While the theme of the movie was communication and understanding it was all very relevant in just human terms, considering the ongoing and seemingly never ending conflicts around the globe, large and small.No wonder the Aliens stated it would be three thousand years before we would be able to help them, personally, I think it would be a lot longer than that.

A good sci-fi yarn

Can't rate this film more highly. The score is fantastic. The story's well told. Really makes you think.

Love this movie and I regularly geek out on the concept of language independent of linear time. Great philosophy!

Just love this film. Believable and creative storyline and best of all, no little green men! This is a sophisticated take on 'UFO makes contact with humanity to stop us blowing ourselves to bits,' line and has a great twist to the narrative. Lovely acting and NO super hero types.

Enjoyable film and worth a watch.
