...these hooks are my hooks of choice! I will generally put a red hook up front and then the nickel black finish hooks for the back. I get more consistent hookups and the hookups rarely result in a lost fish. When these grab, they grab well. Their shape lends them to hooking the lip of Bass very well, and consistently too, which is excellent because it causes the fish less harm and puts more fish in your boat. I've never seen a gut hook or deep hooking with these on, but this is my experience. A great thing with 2x short hooks is that you can easily swap for larger hooks. For example, a standard number 6 treble hook will be about as tall as a number 4 2X short shank hook. Because they are so light and are short, they do not affect how well my lures work--I typically use hard swimbaits and without proper balance, they will not swim as they should. I have had no problems going up a hook size on all of my lures--swimbaits and all!My only wish was that, instead of being available in only 2X short 1X extra strong, I'd rather see 2X short and 2X or 3X extra strong. I have had one hook bend on a missed hookup with a *large* bass, but in the past, I've had had no trouble bringing in 6, 7, and 8+ lb bass without damage to the hook, so my guess is that it was just in a funny position in the basses mouth and my hook set bent the hook as it yanked it away from a very determined, very lucky big boy bass.All and all, I couldn't be happier with these hooks!

This is not the cheapest treble out there but there is definitely a reason for that. These hooks are better than some more expensive ones I have used. Very, very sharp and more importantly, they stay sharp. Also, I have snugged rocks few times using the 50lb braided line, Only once, the line broke as opposed to a hook with this strong line, which happened several times before this hook). All others, I have managed to pull out the line with so slightly bent hook, which again, even after being snugged to the rock, was STILL sharp).Also, each time I caught a fish, I could see that hook penetrated so nice, that there is a very small to no chance that fish will manage to unhook itself.Really great hooks.
