Best board for fine edged knives
I received a set of quality Japanese kitchen knives as a Christmas gift. The enclosed brochure recommended using a Hinoki wood board, and I selected this one. It is a good and useful size. It is thick and heavy enough to stay put when using. I like the handle which allows me to slide it in/out of a narrow area for storage. It is a hard wood but noticeably softer than bamboo or walnut, for example. Much better for the delicate fine edges on my new knives. I dont know how long it will last but when I use it I can smell the scent of freshly cut wood like in a wood shop! I thought the price was good comparing other Hinoki boards for size and thickness. If you have very fine edged knives you will enjoy and appreciate this cutting board.

Great board to start off with
I needed a softer cutting board for a $400 Japanese knife I was concerned about and this delivered. It is an excellent size for most things, does not damage the blade, and did not break the bank. I'm able to learn and improve skills greatly without much fear of damage. There are certainly nicer, better boards out there, but this one fits the bill quite nicely.

Perfect for keeping the sharpness on your expensive knives
I had just purchased a $200+ Japanese chef's knife (yes, incredibily sharp), and after doing some research on the net found that the best cutting board to use should be made from a semi-hard wood, specifically Hinoki. Materials such as plastic, ceramic and hard woods would dull the blade fairly quickly.I was very pleased with this product as it was more reasonably priced and larger than most others .Because the wood is fairly soft you will eventually see some knife marks but that is the nature of the beast. It also cleans off easily. A plus is also that it has two useable sides, one marked for meat/fish/chicken and the other for the rest of your food. Finally I purchased the board with the handle as it's easier to grip, and also is thicker than other similar cutting boards. One caveat..don't use serrated knives on this cutting board (as I indavertently did) because they make notably visible cut marks.

Love this!
I love this cutting board. It is just the right size and perfect for my needs. It is nice to my knives, and easy to clean. I loved this version with the grooves better than the current version. However, the small handle is nice for moving it around. This cutting board is a good thickness, without being too heavy. I tend to move my cutting board around as use it. I have used a coconut oil/beeswax on my board, and it is wearing well. It does stain a little, but that is to be expected. Spray down with a little bit of water before using, and that will help. Awesome product at a great price.

Perfect!
I had originally purchased one of these Japanese cedar (hinoki) wood cutting boards, but I liked it so much, I purchased another one.- Medium size is just right.- Wood is easy on the knives.- Wood emits a refreshing aroma.- Wood is light weight, making handling easy.- Stainless steel handle allows for easy drip drying after rinsing.

Nice Board
This is a nice board but the shape is a little too long for quick cuts, and a little hard for me to maneuver.

Great cutting board for the money
This is a great cutting board suitable for your high end Japanese blades. It is thick, well-made, and an absolutely great value for the price.

This cutting board will crack... It is just a matter of time
The board arrived in perfect condition and was a joy to use. However, after week 5 (7 times of minimal use) I started to see a crack forming on the wood by the handle area, as well as the opposite side of the board. I have a feeling this was a defect from the wood being glued together.Unfortunately, I passed the window of return and I was told by Amazon that the only way to get a hold of the manufacturer, Boumbi was an international call to their Korean office. This was totally unacceptable and the fact they did not have an email address or a way to chat with them via Amazon, gave me red flags. After being transferred and speaking to the right team at Amazon, they allowed me to return this board. I am sure Boumbi is probably a decent company but the fact the warranty is the return window scares me.
