Outdoor, family fun!
We are so excited about this horseshoe set! As a kid, we had horseshoe "pits" in the backyard and there were many summer and fall gatherings where anyone and everyone could play. I think in the old days on the farm we used actual horseshoes and a couple of stakes pounded into the ground.This set is great--has the standardized size and weight and each one we received is sturdy and smooth--no rough spots to hurt one's hands. Did you know horseshoes is an actual international sport? And yet, you can play with your family in your own yard! Lots of good info on the internet from official orgs about ways you can make a pit-- from grass to sand to special clay, so jump right in and get started.

Actually Durable Steel, Not Brittle Cast Iron
These have worked great so far! As far as I can tell these are forged steel like the advertisement claims compared to the cast iron of some other brands. The difference is that these ones actually hold up to the abuse of tossing them around with nothing more than some scratched paint.The other brand I tried had cast iron horseshoes which snapped in half when one hit the stake at a weird angle, snapped in half when one landed on another horseshoe, and snapped in half when it hit the box of our horseshoe pit. These steel ones not only took all those same hits, but took more when a missed throw took gave it at least a 20-25 ft drop onto concrete without even a dent (just a scratch on the paint).

Good quality
Nice and sturdy, everything is metal and solid. Carrying case is helpful.

Should be used with a sand pit at each end
These are very heavy duty and we'll great, how ever, anyone how throws horseshoes will tell you you should place the horseshoe steak on a sand pit. If you don't you get way to much bounce and roll after throwing.
