Silver

I have been a fan of Fourplay for many years and have nearly all of their cds. But I didn't have this one, until now. It is wonderful. I especially like that there are no vocals on these recordings, just music. Members of the group have come and gone but the music is still great. I will keep buying as long as they keep recording cds. You can't find a better contemporary jazz group.

What a treat! First listened to the CD right out of the box after receiving in near-record time from Amazon. Immediately thought that this was about as good a listen as the early Fourplay discs those many years ago - I now have every one but the first couple started the love affair. The I read Chuck's liner notes and understood even more clearly why I so enjoy this disc. The sound I / we fell for in the beginning echoes throughout this record. No unnecessary "lead" vocals on the tracks, just the gentle harmonies of Nathan and others in the background. The music - the melding of the instruments and sounds by these four stellar musicians and their friends - is the star of this venture. There's that rich sort of echo that gives depth to each song and makes them all almost touchable. I continue to be dazzled, as I was in the early 70's, by the multi-beautiful multi-keyboard work of Dr. (Of piano miracles) James. Nathan East has played on so many important records for so many different artists, yet his ever-present undercurrent bass on these songs gives them body and suggests that THIS ensemble is where he really belongs. Harvey is as solid today as he was on the very first kicks of the first disc. And yes, I agree, this is Chuck's best recorded collaboration with his bandmates. A couple challenges in the middle of the disc but the start and finish are fantastic Fourplay, no matter what year. Thank you, gentlemen, and here's to 25 more!!

This most recent musical release by the master jazz/instrumental group FOURPLAY aptly titled "SILVER" is a grand celebration of their 25th anniversary and what a celebration this is!! This piece of "SILVER" is indeed "GOLDEN"!! This album sure does SHINE!!You know, usually after a period of time, decline starts and that's with all things but somehow, FOURPLAY puts that in reverse, this recording is as fresh as the very first album, it almost rivals it, that's how robust, full bodied, sophisticated, mellow and mature "SILVER" is...a true masterpiece in every single sense of the word...from start to finish..With ten sterling pieces of silver, your musical bag might not be able to hold the value therein...every singe piece is indeed priceless..I'm having difficulty deciding on a Favorited one..a beautiful problem, if you know what I mean..Song titles are: "QUICKSILVER", "HORACE", "STERLING", "A SILVER LINING", "SILVERADO", "MINE", "SILVER STREAK", "PRECIOUS METAL", "ANIVERSARIO" and "WINDMILL" respectively!!. Perfectly titled for this amazing celebration!! Each is as soothing as it can gets..a perfect means to escape this hustle and bustle of life..an escape to a peaceful dimension.. a healing potion to any and every soul.."SILVER" is certainly one of my Favorited new albums because of how classic it is..I could praise this recording forever due to the joy it provides, whether alone or with that special someone...wow!! this is Music at its's best, very, very, highly recommended to all fans of contemporary Jazz, you will agree as your very soul shines from..."SILVER"!!

One of Fourplay's best to date - Track #5 - the very best. Bought 5 and gave them for Christmas presents and all received great reviews from recipient. An absolute must fans.

A very tasty work by Fourplay. I still think that the Carlton days were the best - nothing tops "Heartfelt" and "X" in my book - but this is by far the best of the Chuck Loeb era. As usual, there are a couple of sleepy cuts but the standouts are terrific. Track 1, "Quicksilver" has a great, electronic opening and segues into the type of upbeat groove funk that Fourplay excels at. #3 "Sterling" - intricate and so well-played. The great track #5, "Silverado" brings back Larry Carlton into an irresistible smooth toe-tapping tune - terrific back-and-forth soloing by Carlton and Loeb. Best track of all is #7 "Silver Streak" which features soaring guitar work by Loeb and Mason's powerful drumming. Put this with Kirk Whalum and the return of Lee Ritenour on one track and you have one terrific CD.

I have been a fan of Fourplay since the beginning of the group and have seen them live in concert a couple of times. Three of the founding members, Bob James, Nathan East and Harveiy Mason are now joined by Chuck Loeb, the third guitarist to play with the group. Over the past several years, I've become a huge fan of Chuck Loeb's guitar virtuosity. I've enjoyed Silver immensely since it arrived and it frequently eases me through evening drive time in Jersey traffic. For those who like Fourplay, I would highly recommend Silver!

This cd is one of the best efforts in recent years, songs like Quicksilver, Horace, Silverado with Larry Carlton & Windmill with Lee Ritenour are just spectacular along with members Chuck Loeb, Nathan East, Harvey Mason & Bob James, they continue to make beautiful jazz together. This cd which is called Silver is they're 25th anniversary album, hard to believe it's been this long they've been around. They just flow elegant rhythms throughout this wonderous album & that's why I gave it a 5 star rating.

2015年発売が最後になりますかねぇ。久しぶりにお気に入りのギタリストCHUCK　LOEB見つけた！と思ったら、2017.7.31の逝去されてとても残念でした。今までもよい楽曲ばかりなので、まだまだ頑張って続けてほしいと思います。For Music, For Jazz, and For The World.

ユーチューブで視聴していたので曲目は知っていたのですが、CDで聞くとさらに良く聞こえました。

録音技術は、締まりの有る粒立った音質である。演奏も揃っていて、かなりのハイレベルと言える。なかなかの秀作アルバムだと言えるだろう！

全曲初めて聴く曲なのに最初から最後まで安心して聴いていられる。全ての音が「いつものＦｏｕｒｐｌａｙ」です。ラリーカールトンやリーリトナーもちゃんと色合い出てます。今月のブルーノートでのライブで何曲演奏されるかわかりませんが予習はばっちりしていきます♪

やっと聴くことができた。期待どおりのアルバムです。Fourplayにハズレなし。
