ToneRitefor Violin

Q: What tone does your violin Tonerite play? Mine plays a deep C, exactly the same as my viola one, but the violin one is a lot cheaper, just checking.

Hey Don, all of the ToneRite units for different instruments oscillate at the same frequency. The biggest difference are the elastone feet that are specifically designed for each instrument. Violas tend to have a large variation in sizing while violins tend to be more standardized. The violin unit may fit on a smaller version of a viola, however on the larger versions you may run the risk of damaging the instrument or the ToneRite may not be as effective. The viola units are more expensive because the cost of production is more due to the smaller production quantities. Q: So does this fit into a violin case when you're using it? Or do you have to keep your case open? Thanks!

I would not use this on a violin in the case. You would have to have the case open for the cable at the least and lots of bad things could happen. It is better to have the instrument on a stable stand. I recommend this product just not in the case.

Q: Hello, you have sent me a tonerite, but i wanted to ask you if it does use 110 or 220V, thank you. What about power?

Straight from the manual: "If required, please use an international power converter for 220V-240V outlets. The ToneRite runs on 110V between 50Hz-60Hz: however, it may be used on any world standard power with the appropriate converter. The ToneRite is a low watt device so please make sure your converter is appropriate for operation of electronics under 50 watts."

Q: Is it specifically calibrated for tuning based on A440? I play A443 and don't want to encourage my violin to resonate best when it's out of tune...

Actually there is no link between the tuning of the instrument and the vibration provided by the device.
