Great watch for everyday wear!
I wear this watch doing everything, sailing, fishing, swimming, scuba and bicycling. Nice and lightweight, comfortable and easy to read.

A Happy Surprise
I was hesitant about this, it looked " busy" and perhaps hard to read for my old eyes but when it arrived with Amazons super fast Prime shipping I fell in love at once, and I`m too cynical to gush ! ! The Font and spacing makes it very clear and fast reading, even at arms length. ( try that with your regular Opps watch ! ) It is lighter then a piece of paper, it`s not unduly large on the wrist, and most of all the lumen works. It is though important for us older guys to understand that it doesn`t work as expected, the lumen brightens over time in a dark rooms ! in effect it works opposite to the usual system we are use to that start out bright and then dim. As a caveat, I would not use it as a dive watch or an OK to shower with watch. With thanks to LtDan for his advice in my question above !

Luminox watch
Great watch. Light weight on the wrist. No problem reading time in the dark. This is a original not a clone nock off. Shipping was on time and fast.

Active Daily Use? Homerun so far!
This watch has been on my target watch list for a while, so I had done an extra amount of research on it before purchase. Even though the color is different, I assume my review could easily translate into any of the other colors on the Luminox Navy SEAL watch line. For the type of work I do, a watch is always on my wrist. 24 hours a day! Work, play, workout, shower, eating, sleeping, etc. Any watch I wear gets constant and differing wear from all types of elements. The design and size of the watch is a nice talking point that people notice, but I just don't need it for good looks, I need it to work! I don't expect it to, and after 2 weeks, it has passed that test. The previous watch I had on my wrist (for 3 years) was a Timex Expedition that actually looked like the black version of this watch. 'Watch people' mistook it for a Luminox often. Couple things are much better with this watch so far:1. I like being able to see the hands and number markers from the tridium in the watch. Exceptionally bright in night and total darkness. My timex had the indiglo option and it was fine, just more convenient to not have to press with other hand.2. The strap is stronger. Had a rubber strap on my timex and it broke, and the replacement of the strap is almost as much as I paid for the entire watch from Macy's. LOL. So went new watch shopping because of that. Double clasps and strap locks keep strap excess from catching on random clothing things.3. This has the rotating bezel which the timex did not. I use this feature very often now and I love it. I have many times in my day that I need to mark the current time and have 15, 20, 30 or whatever minute as a guide. This works much faster than pulling out my phone and starting a timer. Obviously, a watch with a chronograph or phone is much more accurate--I don't need that detailed so this works very well for me.Feels light as well. I appreciate the "heavy" watch once in a while if I go out, but it's not practical for my daily use. Looks sharp as well on the wrist.I would say go for this watch if you are planning to use it regularly. So far, so good, and I will update this review as needed.Lastly, just to protect yourself from the risk of getting a defective watch (that some few people have noted), make sure you get it from a seller that allows returns. I had no problems and got an A+ watch, even though I did choose from a seller that would allow returns and cares about their seller rating.Overall, go for this one, if you plan to use it!*Update as of 9/21/2016* This guy is still a beast and rocking and rolling along. I wear it all the time and it takes a beating but is sharp and on point. All types of weather and precipitation and sand have nailed this thing and it has not missed a beat. I'm getting another without hesitation!!**Update as of 3/30/2022** Still have this guy and it has been pretty good for the past 6 years under my care. Some updates:1. I have had to change watch band 4 times because of it breaking. I purchased the NATO strap to try it out but 3 times were from breaking from wear from daily use. I always get the rubber, but that is just me.2. There are some scratches on the glass. This is not sapphire so I wasn't expecting perfection.3. Bezel has some noticeable wear. Since it is "plastic" it just wears over time more than any metal. You can see in the update pic.4. Changed battery once.Overall it has been sufficient for me. My only complaint--as I see my next purchase in my near future--is that the dial takes a half a second to read. It is not as fast as pickup as other watches, so just my opinion when you first glance at it. I don't expect any worn composite/plastic watch to last 10 years as I see the wear on mine.Did I get my money's worth? Of course!

Worth it. Just don't whack it against steel and you'll be ok.
The watch was good while it lasted. I work in a lumber yard so toughness was very high on the list. As was brightness in low light setting. The best part about the watch is the Tritium inserts, they provide a very effective and identifiable way to tell time at night. The bezel has tight lockup, and the crown is well protected. The only problems I had with it are that I had to replace the pin the holds the watch band on twice during (my) regular use, that being occasionally whacking it against steel racking during my daily routine. But the main reason I stopped wearing it was that after I replaced the pin for a second time I accidentally hit it again on some steel and not only did the pin fall out again, but the FACE of the watch came out. Not kind of popped out of place. It fell OFF. It fell out of the case and hit the ground. After that I decided it was time to put the old girl to bed.Other than that. It was a good watch. Very light weight, Very Bright. One thing to mention is that the clasp is kind of unique in that it doesn't have the typical 1 prong that rests through the holes on the band but 2 side by side. So on the band there are two parallel sets of holes running down instead of one.All in all, I got my money out of it. I think I'm going to try a Reactor watch because they use a steel rod with no springs, instead of a sprung pin.

Tridium glow
I bought this watch for the tridium and the self sustaining lume it has. It does not have a sapphire crystal, or a screw down crown, and it has a rhonda movement for around$200. You can get an Casio Edifice that has all that, minus the tridium for under a$100. But I would buy another Luminox, both are great timepieces but you are definately paying for the tridium.
