Shine On: The Remarkable Story Of How I Fell Under A Speeding Train, Journeyed To The Afterlife, And The Astonishing Proof I Brought Back With Me

NOT much about the afterlife
If you are wanting to know about the afterlife, this book, while well-written, will disappoint you. It's mostly about the author's life, work, family and friends, and how his life changed AFTER his NDE. Very, very little of it is about what he saw during his NDE. The gold standard on that is still IMAGINE HEAVEN by John Burke. It's really the only one you need. I think I've read it a dozen times and it never gets old.

Reading This Book is Like Going on a Journey
This story is deeply moving. When I got halfway through the book, I set it down for the first time since opening the cover; only because I wanted to slow down the experience.David tells his story in such a way that it feels like I'm there with him in the days and months leading up to his Near Death Experience. When he recounts the details of the accident, he speaks of a feeling of "splitting in two", almost like two opposite experiences happening at the same time. He does an amazing job of making that sensation real for the reader. His words pull you right in there with him in those terrifying, confusing, and somehow beautiful moments. While I've had an interest in the mysteries surrounding our existence, I haven't been drawn to stories specifically about NDEs until I heard about Shine On; and reading it has changed me in some subtle and yet profound way.Shine On is David's story. But he tells it so well that it feels like my own story. Like all of our stories. Which now that I've read it, I suspect that it is.

A page turner
This is a very authentic and moving story about a near-death experience. I appreciate that this book is not just about his near-death experience but also about the struggles leading up to it and his life afterwards and his journey through counseling. I definitely was on the edge of my seat throughout this book and even cried. It's very inspiring and very authentic. You can tell it's a true story.

Absolutely amazing and Resonating.
Amazing journey. I resonate with the LIGHT described in this book.I listened to the music. When i heard the lead orchestra singer Julian sing ' You showed me Infinity'. I got Goosebumps and Felt SOURCE.When i heard him sing ' My Saviour, Life creator' , I felt tears of deep silent bond with Source of ALL life.I am not religious. But these words mean something deep. LIGHT/ LOVE/ SOURCE is the creator. IS the SELF.Thank you David bringing this gift to this world.Thank you for BEING YOU.

Honest story span by exceptional experiences
NDE is becoming a known abbreviation but it is still not understood. If you have even one of these experiences you know more. Author of this book knows more, now. Humans should not think they know the universe outside, and they know even less about the universe inside. This book is a description of the universe that is inside of us and how it connects to all. Inspiring, insightful and true. Check it out!

Moving, and beautifully written.
I couldn’t help but to cry for David at the end of this book. I’m blown away by such a beautiful recollection of a NDE, and the courage it took to follow the messages that he received from Spirit. Seriously, I wish I could start over and read it again. I co-host a new age spiritual podcast and we discuss NDE’s frequently, our listeners have shared stories as well, but nothing like this story. The strength and conviction in this story...truly remarkable. I loved every word.

Honest and compelling story
This is such an interesting book. I had no prior knowledge of NDEs and the writer's personal journey and account of his terrible accident at such a low point of his life was a painful read, but as I read on I realised it was an essential part of his story. It felt human, painful and very honest - but with some dry humour and a lightness of touch in between. The different timelines and back story that built up to his harrowing accident were effective literary tools. The resulting and vivid recapture of his NDE in the emergency room is beautifully captured and this sensitively written book makes one reflect on new possibilities of life after death. Should we chose to listen, the story gives us a clear message that we should not be fearful. Life is arguably the harder option, especially how we chose to live it in the 'here and now' as is the aspiration to leave a meaningful mark behind. Defining what a meaningful life is for someone in deep pain as a result of addiction is also dissected in the book and done through excerpts of his intimate psychotherapy sessions. As David continues his personal journey - (post profound physical injuries PTSD and lingering personal demons), these sessions are both visceral and insightful. They help us empathise in a non judgemental way as he reaches a place of peace and recovery - heightened by his extraordinary call to spiritual creativity through his art and music .This true sense of self and artistic epiphany is realised when David and many of those around him recognise his special and arguably higher abilities. We are all relieved when he gets to a good place and are uplifted as a result.Whatever our belief systems, we can all afford to take time out to read this truly spiritual gift of a story and reflect upon our own lives. Or, perhaps just listen to those quiet subliminal/ higher voices that draw us to our inner selves and help make life and love sing.

Excellent book
This is a very well written and honest book and a gripping account of David's firstly harrowing, but then beautiful experience. There are very many NDE books out there... this is one of the best and I've read hundreds. Davids journey from feeling lost and lonely with no hope for the future, to being transformed by his experience in a hugely life altering way is a joy to read about. What becomes clear is that the spirit world touch David in the most dramatic way, leading him to return to earthly life with new skills of the most incredible and creative kind and they continue to work with him to get the message through to the world; death is not the end and if we listen to the spirit world too we can live a happier more fulfilled life.David thankyou for putting this out there and sharing your inspiring story, I will certainly be sharing your work with others. I would thoroughly recommend this book and David also has some great interviews on you tube, very worth a watch

Excellent, exciting, teaching and unputdownable Book
After seeing the interview with David on Anthony Chene Productions on YouTube, I decided I had to buy the book. I'm so glad I did. This book is very well put together, gripping and a wonderful true story. The best NDE book I have read. It certainly made me think and made me want to try to be a better person even more, but also added to my faith in God and life after death. I read it in just 2 days, as I couldn't put it down. I used to work at Addenbrookes where David went to be saved after his horrific accident and I live near St Ives and so after reading the book I attended the lovely St Ives Spiritualist Church where David got his first message before his accident and I actually got a very uplifting message from my Grandad through the medium there on that night, so I'm very glad I went. Thank you David for telling your compelling, exciting and truthful story. It changed my outlook on life. For those who doubt his accident, Google it and you'll see the accident did take place on Huntingdon Station at that time. Maybe David, I'll see you in my local St Ives to thank you personally. Very well done. 10/10.

This book is a revelation.... ✨
My interest in this book was made suddenly aware to me as it appeared on my Facebook page and mentioned St Ives Spiritual church which is close to where I happen to live here Bourne Lincs. Also I am a healer and the story sparked an interest from my own perspective also tat so one could go through a NDE and come out of the other side returning to this life with a whole new aspect on life through his newly set found gift of art and his music, this book was very sensitively written and from a healers point of view an absolute revelation.... I would highly recommend this book for anyone that is not just interested in the concept of near death experience but to those that can begin to realise that there is no such thing as death but beautiful life after life, this man had a wonderful and brief experience of life after death nd came back bearing new gifts for to share with humanity this account of this very genuine portrayal of a tragic accident and how it changed this person's whole take on his life is very poignant and the best read to date......A.P ✨

Dragged under a train and survived!
I stumbled across an interview on You Tube of David Ditchfield talking about the circumstances which lead to him experiencing his NDE. The horrendous accident of him being dragged under a train and surviving. As a Spiritual Medium, I was particularly interested in hearing the experiences of people who have sojourned in the Spirit World. What struck me about David's account, as intriguing, were the abilities he acquired as a result of his Near Death Experience. I felt guided to buy his book to learn more about him as a person. Did he have these latent abilities to paint and compose music prior to his NDE? His paintings, done by someone with artistic talent and flare, surely? And the music symphonies he composed after his recovery from the accident, they had to have been written by an individual used to composing music scores, right? Wrong. David's music talent lay in playing electric guitar in punk bands in the eighties. He built tree houses for a living, not an artist by any means. His book is both sensitive and raw and detailed, rich with emotion, expressing the grave reality of his plight of poverty, alcohol dependency and his past insecurities where love was concerned. The details of his accident is horrific. His journey in the Spirit realms both glorious and incredible. He writes with conviction taking the reader with him as he explores his new found passion for painting, things he saw, when he left his body in the operating theatre. His music will move you to tears, leave you feeling that you've been where he was. Some books deserve to be read and passed on so that others can benefit from reading them. This is one of them.
