The Big Conservation Lie

Absolutely profound!
One of the best reads that I have encountered in years!! The writers highlight the importance of scrutinising situations beyond face value and are whistleblowing, informing, educating, advocating for natives rights with tangible evidence! I share their desire to ignite change. A luta continua!

A challenge to the KKK (Kenyan Konservation Kolonialists)
Written by a Kenyan journalist, his book is almost incoherent with rage at times but it is an effective challenge to conservation colonialism in Kenya and describes some of the well known corrupt practices of BiNGOS (big NGOs). It suggests that corporate conservation led by rich, powerful and sometimes charismatic individuals probably isn't conservation at all and certainly is not good for local indigenous inhabitants of wildlife hotspots. It challenges that implicit (and sometimes explicit) assumption that black Africans are incapable of determining their own future and can't possibly thrive without the sage advice of saintly white folks.

Should be on every conservation and environmental sciences course around ...
Should be on every conservation and environmental sciences course around the world. It's about time the truth was told about "conservation" and how it's guilty of countless abuses. A must-read for all conservationists and anyone who's ever visited a national park anywhere.
