They are made in China. Be warned though, it is not stoneware but ceramic coated with enamel. But still a great product! A great buy!

Q: What materials compose this item?

Stoneware - a type of ceramic where the clay is fired to a high enough temperature that the material does not absorb liquid. Stoneware is NOT rock, but a ceramic product.

Q: Is there a minimum amount of water needed? Does it work normally with just one cup?

You would just have to figure out water level to put in for one cup of coffee

Q: Bought one as a gift. Developing a crack after a few weeks. Anyone able to get Le creuset to give a replacement?

I bought one of these a couple of years ago and the spout chipped. I called Le Creuset and they replaced it promptly. I got the replacement and the same thing happened shortly after. I decided it wasn't worth my time to call again and go through the whole drill again. I'm surprised this product is still available quite frankly. LC should stick to making pots and pans.
