Finally a housing replacement that fits the Viper 7142V remote. The 7142V’s original housing had a bad key ring holder design that broke easily. This item had a traditional key ring that it will last for a long time. I almost purchased a newer Viper remote that required programming. Good thing I researched and this item solved my dilemma.

Keychain mounting tab broke on a previous replacement Viper remote. I was mentally prepared to buy another replacement remote and figure out how to program the Viper unit to accept it now (years later), but I stumbled across this replacement remote (case only, with just very minor cosmetic differences from the one being replaced).And so, I was able to stuff the electronic 'guts' from the remote being replaced into the new replacement case (a perfect fit!), and didn’t have to get involved with reprogramming.Sometimes life can be really sweet!

PC board from `old' unit fit well and it works well. Also, it does NOT fall apart like some others I have bought and returned in the past.

Replaced shell and internal components carried old from old to new shell. Works great, no reprogramming needed.

So much less expensive than replacing the entire pod! Works great & is durable.

This item was a great buy, it fits perfectly over the inner key fob parts. Everything worked how it said it would after I put everything together. It locked, unlocked, and opened everything just right without any problems.
