Crippled by Lack of Maps
An exploration book without maps is like a car without wheels.

Unreadable and not about climbing
I found this book unreadable. It is a book about traveling and describing topography- it has no climbing. As another reviewer has noted the lack of maps is “crippling”. That anyone has managed to read this book is quite a feat due to the tepid boring prose describing traveling from one valley to the nest. The book was so boring I found myself disliking the author as he would sometimes describe the inhabitants of the villages they walked through as “peasants ..... of a very low type.” (Page 36). Multiple references like this make this book very dated.I am throwing this book in the garbage - it is not worth reading.
