Anja Beran has made an invaluable contribution. Should be required viewing by every because because it is, after all, their job to preserve dressage and protect the horse.

Everyone who ever gets on a horse should be obligated to watch this video.Now, one of her main points, based on the passed on knowledge from the classical masters since hundreds (actually thousands) of years is:1. PREPARE THE HORSE first, physically (strength, flexibility, balance, coordination). You cannot 'fix' it in the moment by pulling, squeezing, hitting.... and my mind is 'prepared' as I'm a bit of a classical dressage nerd to listen to this DVD so I might hear things that are not being said.It might sound overly simplistic, when this really is the profound simplicity not he other side of complexity that is offered.Instead of learning techniques, if we all focused on principles, and we were more on the same page of training horses the way they are made physically and mentally, we'd have a lot happier, healthier horses (and riders).Yeah, these aren't quick fixes, but then again, it's liek the tortoise and the hare: You might think you're rushing ahead by cheating', but in a couple of years, the slow, steady, systematic development of a horse will outrun you.Highly recommended.
