Doesn't clean. Us eit and still get critical cleaning alert, have been runing it twice in row and clean only lasts ~2-4 days. HP cleaning tape would last 10-15 cycles before another cleaning was needed.

Fixes audio dropouts on audio DAT decks.
I have grown bored with everything locked down due to COVID, so I have been filling my stereo rack. My latest acquisition from eBay was a Sony DTC-75ES DAT Deck. DAT is rather finicky compared to other audio formats, but when it works, it sounds really good (slightly better than CD audio quality). I already replaced the RF amplifier capacitors in the Sony (as suggested by 12voltvids; a YouTuber who repairs old electronics), as well as removed the deteriorating foam "self-cleaning" squeegee for the rotating head drum (another problem due to the age of Sony decks). Alas, I was still getting drop-outs, though not as serious. I knew from experience with a mini-dv camcorder, that the head drums used for digital tape recordings needs to be PERFECTLY clean or your picture/sound WILL be susceptible to dropouts. With my good relationship with the brand MAXELL (they make superior reel/cassette tapes, with no sticky shed or mold issues, and just hold up better than any other brand of tape, IMHO), I sprung for this DDS cleaning tape. I ran the tape for 10 seconds, as suggested by the Sony owner's manual, and the dropouts are gone!Tips:-VERY Important: run this tape at a maximum of 10 seconds at a time, at an interval recommended by your owners manual. The cleaning tapes are slightly abrasive to the delicate tape heads, but safe to use in a working deck.-DDS carts are fully compatible with DAT, but avoid longer than 120m tape (later generation DDS used thinner tape which is a problem for audio DAT recorders.-Finally, replace the RF amplifier capacitors if you want to keep your DAT deck working top notch! Rumor has it there was a shortage of SMT capacitors in the late 80s/ early 90s due to a flood of portable Japanese electronics taking up the supply of the parts. Some manufacturers were sold botched capacitors containing corrosive electrolytic to meet the demand. When the electrolytic leaked, it would eat at circuit traces, and make many cameras, decks, and Walkmans irreparable from the damage. Sadly, this issue has already claimed the lives of many vintage analog camcorders, making family video archival a daunting task when trying to source a working unit.
