Club Life in 1980's London
This book was written in the 1980's and is typical of photo books of the period. It is printed on not the best paper and has lots of black and white photos and a few washed color images.. "Gentlemen's Clubs of London" profiles the best clubs of the 1980's. My sense is in the dynamic world of London clubs that a lot has changed over the decades. This book is an interesting "snap shot' of 1980's London life.

Here's to the Gents
I found this a fascinating book. I have written two histories of gentlemen's clubs (as a member of both) and thought I fully understood Clubs but this work offered me new insights into where Clubs came from. I noted that all Clubs have cycles and fall into difficulties from time to time, some failing and others pulling themselves back from the brink.

Cigar smoke and fine old brandy
Got this for my writing research library. A pricey acquisition, but worth every penny!

I frequently travel to England and have visited many of the clubs mentioned in this book. I can say that it truly represents the numerous clubs that I have been to. I strongly recommend it!

Was advertised as "Like new" but when it came it was a completely new book --still on its cellophane!

Good, but not great.
This book arrived recently here in Sydney; I've been reading and re-reading this book before giving a review. I enjoy reciprocity with many of these London clubs and have been to many of them. The book is visually great - the colour photos are superb. This is the main selling point of the book. The text, however, is disappointing. For example, unlike the Carlton and Athenaeum, there is no mention of the Oriental recently taking on full women members. The absence of the RAC from this book is also disappointing. It belongs in it more than the Farmers, RAF or Landsdowne, in my personal opinion. So, by all means buy it - for the quality of the photographs, but not for any great insights in the text.

Banging Coffee Table Read
Great Coffee table book, you can read over and over again.Interesting facts and little gems, an insight to the beauty of the buildings and décor also.

It's a real treat
I just have a passion for English Gentlemen's clubs. I have the older version of this book in black and white and when this came out in full colour it was a must.

Christmas present
I bought this as a gift for a proper "chap". He says it is great, but I suspect it has a limited audience.
