These scissors may look like a normal pair of scissors you would pick up anywhere, but they are actually hand sharpened in Japan to near-German specifications. This means they cut through paper like butter, without snags and hangs. Now, you're not going to cut through twenty sheets at a time with these, because they are not made for that purpose. but I would say anything up to about seven sheets or normal printer or copier paper and you'll feel the difference. They are a great price, too, considering the hand-sharpening process. A note of caution: like any precision tool, if you drop them on a hard surface, particularly point down, you may very likely knock them out of alignment. They will still work, but they will potentially feel like "normal" scissors from that point on (no pun intended). So, treat them with care, and you should get many years of great cutting with them, and then when you try one of the regular shears you see everywhere, you'll see what a difference they make! As a lefty, I've spent my entire life "making do" with crappy right-handed scissors. My last pair of office scissors broke at the finger loop, necessitating a replacement. I'm so glad I found these! They are super-sharp and never let me down. The fact that they are true lefty scissors is a very big cherry on top.

Such a simple tool but so well designed. This letter opener is a blade on a scissors-like handle--a single blade. Hold the curved side up against the fold and slit open your envelope. The thin blade fits into your pencil holder ready to be used.The problem with this opener is it was dull and tore the envelope paper. So I pulled out one of those quick knife sharpeners you draw a knife through. After working it over for a few minutes, it was able to open an envelope without chewing it up. So if you buy one of these, sharpen it.

Takes a little getting used to, but works fine.

I’ve hastily ordered these, but I do not like them. I have arthritis in my hands and These letter openers are very hard to hold onto. I also find that they don’t rip the envelopes as well as others. I think the blade is too thin and the way it shaped you just can’t get the right grip to open your envelope

Smaller than I thought but very well made and sharp.

I bought this for my husband who is a leftie. He can use regular scissors, but if he tries to cut any fabric type stuff it won’t work. These scissors are so good that even I, a right handed person, cut stuff with it with my left hand. I love it. It’s small and super sharp and easy to maneuver.

After looking at the pictures of the 6.88 inch scissors that were shown in the Amazon.com picture, I fell in love with it because I loved the looks of its black handles. To my chagrin, after receiving this pair of scissors, it was much smaller than I expected but the worse problem is its two inside rings were so small (left side, widest length is 15/16 in. and right side 1 in.), and they were not wide enough for average adult hands to use it comfortably. In short, they are good for children only. This appears to be a common problem among most of these Canary scissors including its kitchen shears which looked great on pictures but because of the narrow sizes of their inside rings, made them extremely uncomfortable to use. I am surprised that nobody who gave rave reviews here had mentioned this fact. Therefore you can only treat most of the reviews, including mine, with a grain of salt. That said, Amazon.com made it pretty easy to return undesirable items by returning them to the local Whole Food stores. So you really have to try each pair of scissors to know if you would like them. This one will be returned. Sigh!
