Aspartame: The Poison They Don't Want You To Know About
For the past 2 years or so I had been feeling worse and worse as time went on. Headaches, neurological symptoms such as losing feeling in my arm and face, and the scariest of all, I was having trouble thinking straight. I really was beginning to feel like a different person and there were times that I felt like I was going insane.Am I exaggerating?? I really wish I was, but sadly that was not the case. After speaking with my primary care doctor several times and having had tests done, I noticed that my symptoms improved at times, but nothing significant. I tried to put my finger on what the problem was, and one day while doing a search online, I found that some people who chewed Orbit gum were complaining of symptoms similar to mine. I had been chewing sugarless gum for years, and I never thought twice that what I was chewing could be hurting my body, potentially for the long term. After reading more, I immediately stopped using all products with aspartame/Nutrasweet/Equal and within a few short weeks I started feeling better.During my initial research regarding the link between aspartame and the symptoms I was experiencing, I stumbled upon the book "Sweet Poison" by Janet Starr Hull, the story of how she found out that aspartame was the cause of her very own health problems and her research behind how this original ulcer drug got into nearly every type of food we eat every day.Hull's story is very interesting, and anyone that wants to find out more about the story of how aspartame got into the United States food supply would be able to probably pick some bit of relevant information from this text, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out how sloppy the writing is. It's really a shame, because you get the point that the author really does care about educating the masses, but she would have been so better off if she had more people edit this book before it was published. My favorite parts of this book relate to the story of the shady way in which aspartame got on the shelves of supermarkets around the country and how it probably should have been stopped long, long ago. It's just a sad realization that the corporations control America and it's not a new trend. The original fights to get aspartame FDA approved date back to the 1970s, and through loopholes and political tricks that is exactly what happened in the 1980s.If you want to learn more about the history of aspartame and the story of an individual that had an adverse reaction to this drug, this is a nice read but it's very sloppy. Sometimes you will get done reading a paragraph and just say to yourself that the writing is outright POOR.Some people will read this book and just say it's a bunch of hogwash and they have never had a bad reaction to a diet soda, but I can tell you from personal experience that this chemical CAN cause major problems so buyer beware. In the battle between calories and chemicals, I'll take the calories, at least I can pronounce sugar more easily than many of the chemicals you see when you turn the label over of far too many foods that are purchased every single day.*** RECOMMENDED

Everyone should read this expose to understand who our government agencies work for.
Aspartame was known to cause brain damage back in the early 70’s, with additional destructive health affects too long to list here. An easy to read documentary of a woman’s serious health issues, and a collection of scientific evidence proving what a criminally toxic product this is. And still it is ‘legal for human consumption’! I found this well written expose hard to put down. It will boggle one’s mind to see just how corrupt the government agencies that supposedly regulate food and medicine in the US really are. And that not only are all of those agencies bought and paid for by the industries they supposedly regulate, so are pretty much every person holding a political office in the US. And this book was published 22 years ago. PS: our journalists are also bought and paid for puppets of the same industries. I’m surprised that the author hasn’t yet had a fatal accident. Worth the time to read, and quite eye opening. Highly recommend

Extremely Helpful and Informative
The highly toxic sweetener known as Aspartame (pronounced 'as-PAR-tame' in Standard English) urgently needs to be banned worldwide. It's unfit for human consumption and has no business being in the food chain. When warning of its dangers there's a risk of being perceived as some kind of zealous missionary who's hell-bent on 'proselytising' one's family and friends. You can be perceived as someone with a 'hang-up' about one particular additive. A friend of mine visited his niece's house and was offered a fizzy drink. When he started to read the ingredients on the bottle his niece remarked, "Oh no, you're going to lecture me about that sweetener that <name> [this reviewer] is always on about!" Janet Starr Hull to the rescue! This excellent, well researched and tastefully produced book is all the ammunition you'll need. The subtitle alone sends shivers down people's spines. The standard retort is, "well why is it 'officially approved' if it's so unsafe?". The sweeping of chimneys by 8 year-olds was once 'officially approved'. Did that make it safe? Or right? Even today, many unenlightened societies 'officially approve' workplace smoking. This exposes MILLIONS to the risks of lung cancer and ischemic heart disease. Governments who approve workplace smoking on the grounds of "civil liberties" are only buying themselves time. It's a stay of execution, no more. Some 30 years hence the next generation will marvel that we even debated such an open and shut case.In 2008, Aspartame is probably where tobacco was in the mid-1970s. People are starting to wake up as the campaign to ban this deadly poison finally gathers momentum. Martin Luther King said "human progress never rolls in on the wheels of inevitability". Janet Starr Hull is a champion and a heroine. If Amazon allowed it, I'd have given Sweet Poison SIX stars out of five!

Sugar, Artificial Sugars Beware!!!
I read the book "Sweet Poison" for my own personal knowledge. After reading the book I wanted others to know about Artificial Sugars and its affect on the body. I ordered two more "Sweet Poisons" books from Amazon. "Sweet Poison" is being taken off the market soon, no longer sold by Amazon. I feel that this book is so important, especially since the increase in Diabetes and illnesses brought on by Artificial Sugars. Every American should have this book in their library; adults, children and older adults. A must read!!!

You won't believe how good this book is and what it says.
Best book I have read in years. This book finally explains my violent anxiety attacks that were happening 3 to 4 nights per week and the sores in my mouth that no doctor could explain. Once I stopped aspertame both went away over night. My hair is still falling out in wads but I believe that will stop too in a matter of a few weeks or a month. This book chronicled all my unexplained symptoms. It is a must read.
