Amazon Basics Smartphone Mini Tripod

Excellent and not big easy to travel with

I order dozens of mini tripods every year and normally purchase Polarduck Mini Tripod but this has been out of stock for a while so I've ordered some alternatives to find a suitable replacement. Unfortunately, this one is not a keeper. I have found that when you put any pressure on it the legs splay out and it drops/collapses. If you look at my photos, you can see that the rubbery feet aren't at the right angle to get any grip on the flat surface until the legs are at their widest which is why it 'collapses' whenever you try to adjust the angle. I can highly recommend the Polarduck and I hope that Amazon will restock them again soon or I will have to shop elsewhere.

Very lightweight with lots of adjustment and tucks away in the corner of your camera bag. I’ve used it with a Panasonic GH5 with a standard lens successfully but this may be about its limit. If you’re looking for a mini tripod to use with a smallish camera this is highly recommended, especially at the price. Talking of price - when I bought this the tripod with phone adapter was less expensive than the tripod on its own. Don’t know if this is still the case.

I had some doubts about buying a cheap plastic tripod, but at £10.99 this is excellent value for money. The photos show it stably supporting a heavy camcorder. The ball is a large diameter aluminium part, so has plenty of frictional grip when the steel locking thumbwheel is tightened. A plastic insert spreads the load of the screw and stops the steel cutting into the aluminium. The legs have two 'locked' heights, selected by folding the legs together and turning a knurled ring. With the legs together it can be used as a mono-pod to give better stability of handheld-shots.Bizarrely you can buy the same thing as an 'AmazonBasics Camera Mini Tripod' for £18.18, but WITHOUT the versatile Smartphone Clip. My photos show just how versatile that extra part is. Well worth the cost of -£7.19 :)

It has only one option for positioning as legs can be open or closed.

For the price it is a good product. I would say that it is not as sturdyas i had hoped, when i place my camera on it it falls down. Only issue other then that you get what you pay for
