Very nice looking bulbs, the coating dims them quite a bit.
These bulbs are beautiful, throw off a wonderful warm light, and if used in a bathroom are not harsh on your eyes. The only downside is they are dimmed significantly by the Amber coating on the bulb. I have the same exact wattage bulbs with clear glass, and they are much brighter.So... you may want to consider buying a higher wattage/brightness if you are going to get the coated ones.

Perfect for my outdoor lighting
I have a pair of these bulbs installed in a motion-activated fixtures, one over the garage door and one ten feet away over the front porch. The fixtures keep the bulbs at 30% brightness during the evening except when they sense motion, they they switch to 100% brightness. After two minutes with no further motion, they'll go back to 30%. Needless to say, this isn't a steady state for the bulbs. I was looking specifically for the natural warm color of candle or torch light (2,500 degrees K) for that nice cozy "tavern" look. I also was looking for dimmable bulbs that didn't flicker when below 50% brightness. These bulbs absolutely fit the bill. The look is perfect and they don't flicker now. The first evening or two I used them, they did flicker a bit at the 30% brightness level, but ever since, they're rock steady. I don't know about the longevity since I've had them for only a couple of months. I expect at least a year of use out of them. Their 100% brightness level is fine for the front of the house and allows anyone walking or driving in the driveway to easily see. Overall, this is a great purchase. I'm going to order several more to have on hand when these start to wear out.
