The Argent Anthology: A COLLECTION OF GREATEST HITS

Rod Argent and Russ Ballard at their very best, a seminal 70's rock compilation. Highly recommended !

Had forgotten about Anthology until I heard them on the radio recently. I'm glad I bought this CD which contains some great songs from that era.

Product is fine, a bit pricey but its coming from the States so you have to expect that. Arrived on time and in good condition, and of course the sound is amazing from an very under rated band.

I'm afraid I take the view that a greatest hits album (especially one which zones in on the tracks that were singles) should contain the original single versions and not the (0ften tediously elongated) album versions. I have some of these on other releases and I much prefer the single edits/mixes.

Hmmmm. For your information, this is the straight cd version of the original "Best Of Argent" LP release. This explains the short running time. You will be disappointed to hear that "Schoolgirl" almost certainly DOES feature on the British version of this album. (I don't have access to my vinyl copy at the present time, but i'm pretty certain of this.) I see that "Time Of The Season" is on the track listing, and that was definitely NOT on the original LP. This is certainly explained by the fact that this cd is a US import, and "TOTS" was a moderately big Zombies hit "across the pond".It seems very unfortunate that a greater effort hasn't been made to produce a true cd-era compilation, with a more generous playing time. But i expect that Argent are hardly a priority for their record company. Shame, because they were an interesting and under-rated group.
