This is quite the enjoyable read. The hunting stories are interested to read. And the author's personal story as to how he got started without much for mentors is quite compelling. His passion really comes through. Having read the book, I feel like I know the author. It is very much his personal story, with lots of adventure.Hunting mountain lions and bears with hounds is a specialized endeavor but I think that all hunters will enjoy the stories, adventure and passion. I am glad that I read it.

Ed Vance has some very interesting adventures. My Uncle Joe was telling me about him and how he went out with him on several occasions. Well it was very fun to here of all of the adventures he encountered.This book was very good and will have a special meaning to me and my family. My granddaughters are going to read it when I finish! Reading the book was like setting down and talking to Mr Vance. It was like i was on the hunts with him. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who hunts with hounds.

From the first page to the last page, I couldn’t put it down. I do recommend this book to everyone that I talk to. Absolutely awesome book to read.

I grew up in the area Ed hunted, the Sierras. It was truly exciting to follow in my mind the places he chased these cats as I had hunted or ventured into many of these same locations. Well written.

Absolutely amazing book. Gives us more than just stories but the bond between a hound and his handler. So many truths about the lessons taught by the loyalty and companionship of a good hound.
