Q: Which amps do you recommend?

Depends what you want to do. If you get a supply with a higher amp rating, you don't need to use it all; if you get a supply with a lower amp rating you can't do much to increase it if you ever need more amps. So, also comes down to how much money you have spare and how predictable your need for amps is.

Q: Can I connect to another invert which gives 12 v to 230 v with 1000watts?

NO. To get 1000 watts out of your inverter you need at least 1000 watts going in at 12 volts. Watts = volts x amps. So you'd need a 12 V power supply that can deliver about 85 amps. (You'd also need thick cables and connectors so they don't overheat.) I'm sure there are better solutions to get 1000 W than via an inverter especially if you've got 110 or 230 volt to run the power supply in the first place!

Q: can this be used as a rectifier for electroplating if I plug some mini clamps?

It will provide up to 30 volts DC at up to 5 amp (or the HM310 does 30 volts up to 10A), and would be perfect for small-scale electroplating. I've got the HM310, and it's a nice power supply I'd recommend over others -- I tried about five!

Q: Can it be used to make colloidal silver?

As I have no idea what that use entails, I can't really answer the question. All I can say, is that this little unit is great value, and works a treat for everything I've used it for. It's very easy to use, and very accurate as far as I can tell. Definitely worth buying.
