I have used these hinges for small boxes and doors and they work well. I would ensure that the material you will be using them in is strong enough to tolerate the very thin layer of material between the hinge mounting hole and the outside edge. I inset mine a few mm and used a chamfer along the base and lid to provide more strength.

These are very good hinges. The fit in an 8mm hole seems very good.I was worried that I would not get 24 hinges in the pack but I did.I got a total of 72 hinges in the 3 packs and just ordered 3 more packs.At $4.03 per pack of 24 I'd be an idiot not to stock up.

Neat idea, but otherwise they are absolutely horrible in every possible way. Let me count the ways. Overpriced! Five bucks for a pair, when buying a in bulk? I can get half a dozen of regular hinges of similar size for one of these. Hard to install. Why are they just over 8 mm in diameter?! The instructions say to drill a hole 8.2mm in diameter. How am I supposed to do that?! If you get a 8mm metric drill bit, the hole is too small. 3/8 inch is nearest, which is 9.5mm, way too big. Once you manage to enlarge your 8mm hole for the hinges to slide in without force, you realize that cannot drill pilot holes for the holding screws. And you will break every single included screw if you work with anything harder than pine. I tried with cherry and used lubricant on the screws and manage to break the head off every single of 8 screws. You cannot use glue either because it will get into the mechanism through the bottom hole and ruin it. Once you manage to secure the hinges, you'll realize that they are not smooth (they'll catch opening/closing) and they are wobbly and they'll leave a gap unless you force them to close. Absolutely horrible. And overpriced. Stay away. I wish I could return them.

Hinges have a bit of play in them, but they will work well for my projects as I use magnets for clasps.
