Book tells of the efforts of the German air force during the final years in Italy and the many missions flown right up to its surrender. Many readers will see that the German air force generated mission up to the last day. Unit deactivation and movements is covered as well. A gem of a book covering the Luftwaffe and Italian air force's air war from the fall of Rome to the end of the war. It has a day-by-day description of the more significant events of each day, 30 beautifully done color artwork (many showing rare aircraft), 150 photos (again mostly rare aircraft and markings), and more information throughout and in appendices. An important piece of the puzzle as to what happened in the last year of the war on the Southern (Italian) front.

C'est une aubaine de pouvoir encore dénicher cet ouvrage fort bien réalisé sur les activités aériennes vues du côté des forces germano-italiennes en cette fin de campagne d'Italie.Les actions des deux co-belligérants (unités en présence) sont relatées jour par jour du 1er juin 1944 au 2 mai 1945, et l'on comprend très vite les raisons de l'absence d'appareils de l'Axe dans le ciel italien : le manque de carburant. Le texte est relativement facile à lire (anglais courant) accompagné d'une très belle collection de profiles d'avions de la Luftwaffe et de l'ANR, et de photos (NB) assez peu connues. Cet ouvrage existait également sous une édition polonaise où seules les photos sont légendées en anglais, le texte en langue polonaise restant inaccessible à beaucoup.

I think this book fills one important omission in my library, and that is the analysis of the air war over Italy after its capitulation in WWii, and the intervention of the Luftwaffe. The book fills it in avery competent way with a clear explanation of the events, supported by many interesting photos, some maps (perhaps not enough for so many different situations), and some colour profiles.All in all, a very good book in my view.
