Decent cream but on the spendy side
This is a good moisturizing cream. Is it worth $50? For this reviewer, that's debatable. For that amount you get a medium sized jar with 1.7oz of product. The cream is thick and absorbs well into the skin. According to the product formulation, it has exfoliants, antioxidants, humectants, and other moisturizing agents. The directions suggest using only at night, once a day due to the exfoliation properties. However, the instructions should also suggest using a sunscreen or moisturizers with SPF during the day if outside because it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. It has a light scent that dissipates quickly. Would recommend a slow start to using this as your skin gets used to it, particularly if you tend to have sensitive skin.

Wonderful for Dry Sensitive Skin.
Dr. Denese Firming Facial Collagen Face Cream 1.7 ozI have super dry and easily irritated skin. I have been using the serum twice a day and then applying the cream on top of the serum at night. After a few days of use, I noticed that my age spots were starting to fade. Ten days in and I have noticed that my skin feels more hydrated and less taught which is a miracle. The normal redness I usually experience has also decreased and that is because of the chamomile - which is awesome for calming down redness. There is no real scent and my skin is super happy. If you have combination skin or it is acne-prone - this will probably cause issues for you because it contains shea butter. It also contains dimethicone so if you are trying to avoid silicones, again, this won't work for you. It is alcohol-free and fragrance-free as well.Key IngredientsAntioxidant: Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Tocopheryl AcetateCell-communicating ingredient: RetinolExfoliant: Glycolic AcidSkin-identical ingredient: Sodium Hyaluronate, GlycerinSoothing: Panthenol, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, AllantoinAll Ingredients by FunctionAntimicrobial/antibacterial: Humulus Lupulus (Hops) ExtractAntioxidant: BHTBuffering: Glycolic Acid, Potassium HydroxideChelating: Disodium EDTAEmollient: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Dimethicone, Caprylyl Methicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Trimethylolpropane Tricaprylate/Tricaprate, Stearyl Dimethicone, Di-C12-15 Alkyl Fumarate, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Hydroxypropyl Bislauramide Mea, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Caprylyl GlycolEmulsifying: Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Polyglyceryl-10 Distearate, Laureth-7, Glyceryl CaprylateMoisturizer/humectant: Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Soluble Collagen, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Glycerin, Caprylyl GlycolPerfuming: Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) OilPreservative: BHT, Phenoxyethanol, EthylhexylglycerinSolvent: Water (Aqua), Butylene Glycol, Di-C12-15 Alkyl Fumarate, C13-14 IsoparaffinSurfactant/cleansing: PEG-100 Stearate, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Laureth-7Viscosity controlling: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Butylene Glycol, Polyacrylamide, Chondrus Crispus Extract, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Cellulose Gum, Disodium EDTAFYI PhenoxyethanolIt’s pretty much the current IT-preservative. Only Use At Night, Formula Has Glycolic Acid and Retinol
Dr. Denese Skinscience is an anti-aging skincare line founded by Harvard and Cornell trained skincare specialist Adrienne Denese, MD Ph.D. Per the company's website, their goal is "to help women look younger, feel younger, and live healthier lives." All of Dr. Denese's products are manufactured under FDA-mandated procedures and are ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested for safety. They do contain preservatives, but this is to prevent the growth of bacteria in your skincare. And while they do not test on animals, they do not expressly state their products are vegan. The Dr. Denese Firming Facial Collagen Face Cream comes in a standard 1.7oz screw-on lid plastic jar for ~$69. Expensive is subjective. For me, it is a hint high for 1.7oz of lotion. Inside, you get an off-white, thick cream. While on the heavy side, the lotion does absorb well into the skin. It is formulated with various exfoliants, antioxidants, humectants, and other moisturizing and stabilizing ingredients. If you think you may be sensitive to any of the ingredients, it is recommended to first patch-test behind the ear and wait 24 hours to ensure no adverse reaction. The product says to use only at night. Do not use this multiple times a day. You could risk overly exfoliating and damaging the acid mantle or moisture barrier of your face and do more harm than good (leading to breakouts, rashes, excessive peeling, and inflammation). While instructions state to use this facial cream only at night, be sure to use an SPF during the day. The anti-aging exfoliating ingredients in this will further sensitize the skin to the effects of UV-exposure (even when used the night before). And it is far cheaper and easier to inhibit UV-damage and photoaging than it is to treat it. Irrespective of age or skin type, everyone should wear sunscreen year-round, rain or shine. Most of their skincare are fragrance-free. However, some carry a minimal amount of scent. In this Firming Facial Collagen Face Cream, the smell is natural to formula, with a concentrated glycolic acid odor. It is the second ingredient, so it makes sense why it is intense.I wish they'd stop using buzz beauty terms like collagen in the product names when it is not the most active or effective ingredient in said product. In this case, when promoting anti-aging or firming, it can be a hint misleading to consumers who see it and assume it will actively supplement the skin's lost collagen. It can't. Topical collagen in a jar has nothing to do with reversing collagen loss but does add hydration. While this does have collagen in it, you are not physically replacing the collagen in your skin with it. The molecules are much too large to penetrate through the middle layer of the skin, nor would it properly disperse just where you need it, even if it could. Thus, all the soluble collagen is doing is moisturizing because it works well as a humectant. It has excellent water-binding compacity. Soluble collagen refers to the large, natural collagen molecules often extracted from fish or bovine skin. I will note this product does not specify its soluble collagen source, nor do they claim to be a vegan product. In terms of anti-aging, you are getting more out of the exfoliants glycolic acid and retinol. Retinol (pure Vitamin A) is probably the most proven anti-aging ingredient available OTC. And glycolic acid (AHA) chemically exfoliates by gently lifting off dead skin cells to reveal newer, fresher, smoother skin. It can help encourage the skin's own collagen production and fades brown spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Ideally, you want to know the concentration and pH value because these two greatly influence the aforementioned ingredients' effectiveness. There is nothing necessarily wrong with this facial cream. But I use this tentatively. I have mature (over 40), sensitive, product-reactive, fair, acne-prone, congestion-prone, combination skin. While I'm sure Dr. Denese's cream has been formulated well, they also note providing "exceptionally high percentages of key ingredients." I do not know the percentages of the glycolic acid (AHA) or the retinol (vitamin A) in this lotion. And because glycolic acid is the second ingredient and the product's scent is indicative of GA, I have to assume there is quite a bit of it. I'm sensitive to high amounts of glycolic acid. Therefore, I do not use this nightly. Instead, I will use it once or twice a week, sparingly. Initially, I patch tested this on a small part of my back, and it was well-tolerated. But I do not feel comfortable using it every single night just yet. To anyone interested, I'd suggest easing into its use from patch test to once or twice a week, and then incorporate it more regularly as per your own skincare needs. That's the path I'm traveling. As expected, it does provide hydration and, with the exfoliants, does offer a healing effect on areas of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (red acne scars) and discoloration. I think it is suitable for all skin types, but those who have especially sensitive skin take it slow.Ingredient List (per box at the time of purchase):Water (Aqua), Glycolic Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Caprylyl Methicone, Potassium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Octyldodecyl Olivate, Trimethylolpropane Tricaprylate/Tricaprate, Stearyl Dimethicone, Panthenol, Di-C12-15 Alkyl Fumarate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol, Schisandra Chinensis Fruit Extract, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Soluble Collagen, Tocopheryl Acetate, Allantoin, Polyacrylamide, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Polyglyceryl-10 Distearate, Hydroxypropyl Bislauramide MEA, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Chondrus Crispus Extract, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Polyurethane Crosspolymer-1, BHT, Glycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Cellulose Gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin.
