Venezuela adopted this flag in 2006. A version of this flag was introduced in 1811 during the Venezuelan War for Independence. Its basic design is attributed to Francisco de Miranda who was inspired by a conversation about primary color theory. Yellow represents opportunity, red stands for Spain, and blue represents the Atlantic Ocean. The 7 stars represent the 7 regions at the time of independence. The government version of this flag includes Venezuela's coat of arms. This flag is dyed on silky, lustrous rayon and is hemmed and mounted to a black pole that includes a gold-painted spear. The 4 in. x 6 in. flag is mounted to a 10 in. pole, while the 8 in. x 12 in. flag is mounted to a 19 in. pole including 1 in. spear. Base not included.
