Figured oh well let's try it out. 30 seconds after batteries put in the track came off one side. Easy fix somewhere someone couldn't measure and made the tracks too long for the carriages. Tried it out in soft sugar sand. It moved easily....it dug with a single motion (one linkage connects whole digging arm for movement. Tried to figure out how to rotate body.....nope not an included feature must pick up and manually rotate body to track pivot. However it went fwd and back and turned right and left.Grabbed the phone to take pics and got one video of it digging well and moving about 10 seconds long. Was satisfied.Turned camera off on phone and I hear tick tick tick tick tick....the arm was now just jiggling a gear had stripped. Guess which video got uploaded... right I took a new video to show it broken. This is a really sad case and I'm returning it ASAP wish I could charge them for wasting my time.Oh the feet and body in the pictures is a 12yr old kid (my son) who is 4ft tall. Included him to show scale size.

I couldn’t for the life of me figure out where the plug for the charger went into the truck! My husband was able to figure out that there is a battery compartment on the top of the excavator behind the cabin. Open that up, remove the rechargeable battery and connect it to the charging cable (USB charger not included). A light on the charging cable glows when it’s charging. When it is fully charged, the light will go out. It took about two hours to charge.The remote takes two AA batteries (not included). Installing those batteries were problem.There is an on/off switch under the back of the excavator. Turn that on, and you’re ready to play!I have included a video showing the functions on the remote. The excavator moves forward and back, left and right, and digs with its shovel, moving that up and down. All that is really great and better than expected. Unfortunately, it also makes noise and “music” that is REALLY LOUD and horrible sounding! I have deducted two stars for that (and the confusing directions) because it’s enough to make you kinda crazy!I hope this review has been helpful to you. I got this for my 3 1/2 yr old grandson. He loves trucks and construction vehicles and I thought this would be a fun toy for him. So far, he loves it! It's not as big as it looks in the pictures but since my grandson is a small fry, it's a good size for him. The box says the age range is for 6 years old and up, but I'm not sure if a kid older than 6 would get a lot of playing time fun out of it, however. The manufacturer is not totally clear on what age is best for this toy. On the page listing, you can find conflicting ages - one spot says 3 months to 3 years old, another says 3 to 10 yrs old and then the box says 6yrs +. They need to get this corrected so it is less confusing for people trying to make a buying decision.It works as advertised and my grandson is enjoying it. And so far, has not broken anything. I will say that my positive review for this is based on the smile on my grandson's face... and at the end of the day, that's what matters most. I did not get this toy for my satisfaction, I got it for his. I would recommend this digger as a great way to introduce your young kids into the world of remote control vehicles. And let's face it, a remote control excavator is much more fun that one you have to move yourself. I'm glad I got this for him.

I got this for my toddler, as he has started to become obsessed with all things excavators. Honestly, it's pretty neat! The other reviews are right, the music is pretty loud, but for what it's worth, it drives well, rotates well, and scoops well! We haven't had any issues with the tracks breaking and haven't had any issues with the scoop not working. The only caveat I have with this toy is that in order to charge it, you have to completely disassemble it using a screw driver to get to the charging cable. That's kind of annoying that you have to do that every single time it loses battery, but it also keeps a charge for a little while. Overall, it's been a fun toy for him to play with and I'm happy with it!
