Courage & Patience & Grit: Great Big Sea In Concert

Fun live set, CD full of music (though I wish Sean McCann's rendition of Danny Boy were included on the CD), extra music videos on the enclosed DVD as well as the full concert. A bargain for certain! This was an entertaining way to share the music of Great Big Sea with my family, who hadn't heard of the band until I started listening to them more in recent months. The music videos are entertaining, especially their collaboration with The Chieftains. Thoroughly worthwhile collection of entertaining music.

Don't deprive yourself of the pleasure of getting to know "Great Big Sea". I was introduced by a friend who had a few of their songs on CD and was hooked. I originally thought they were an Irish band because their traditional songs have the same rollicking, sing-along sound of your favorite Irish pub bands. Once you get used to the idea of them being from Newfoundland, tho, you realize they couldn't possibly be from anywhere else. They sing of the sea, of fishing boats, of dead horses and drunken, scolding wives. And you are soon singing along with them and wishing you could go to "The tropical Island of Newfoundland") to hang out with them. Or better yet, to see them live on tour. This combination CD and DVD is the next best thing to a live performance. I promise you: you'll be hooked, too.

This group is rough and rowdy and bawdy and wonderful. We got the mermaid album a while ago and thoroughly loved it. So I had to get this one for Christmas too. My teenage son has stolen both of them. I have to steal them back to listen! We've all memorized Captain Kidd. We've always like folk music, and this is no different with it's ballads an clear bright pictures of life in another time & place. But it's also party music that rocks. I think their success has taken them by surprise, but this is universal fun. This one's live, so if you don't like the crowd noise, try one of the others. You won't regret it!

I will admit that I was a bit slow in learning of this excellent group and discovered them quite by accident. I love Celtic music and had recently heard them singing Capt. Kidd on Pandora. I went straight to Amazon and ordered Courage & Patience & Grit. It not only has 20 something songs on the CD, but extra tracks on the DVD portion for the live concert. These guys, Sean, Alan & Bob, are not only extremely musically talented but smart, witty and funny as well. VERY well worth every penny!!!!! I plan on buying more of their product!!!!!

Great music. Sure miss the band.

I'm always eager, yet nervous, about buying live CDs. Most of them are great, but some fall short of my expectations. I quite enjoyed this CD, but have yet to watch the DVD. This is a band that knows how to have fun with the audience, and with their music. I would love to see them live someday, but they rarely make it anywhere nearby. This may not be as enjoyable to "first time listeners", but fans will love it!

These guys are the best! I can not say enough good stuff about they are great.I have bought 6 of there cds so far I plan on getting more.You will not be sorry! I just heard them about a month ago and I am a nut case! I can not listen to them enough. I plan on seeing them in Chicago in March at the house of blues!

I saw 4 shows on this tour and this is a great representation of the show these guys put on. From the slower first half of the show to my favorites in the second half it was a great DVD. The additional videos are great as I had not seen two of them. What a great price for both the CD and a DVD of the concert.

Premetto che io li adoro.. e rosico terribilmente del fatto che non escano dagli States per un tour europeo.Comunque questo doppio (CD + DVD) è una perla!Molto più bello del primo DVD, più completo, più ricco, un sound più personale e maturo.Vi potrei linkare dei video da youtube ma credo che siate capacissimi di trovarli da soli.Vi posso dire che è un CD che merita, assolutamente. E io preferisco i doppi CD + DVD perchè vedere un gruppo live, anche solo al pc (ma con scheda audio degna e cuffie altrettanto degne) ti fa avere una reale idea della capacità e del coinvolgimento del gruppo.Per me sono 5 stelle per il cd e una più per amazon che è sempre preciso (o sarà femminile??) e puntuale... e attento al cliente!

Die Audio-CD ist echt super und macht viel Spaß! Schönes Pendant zu der ersten Live-Aufnahme Great Big CD, da diese hier nicht so perfekt aufbereitet ist und dadurch die Konzertstimmung richtig toll rüberkommt! Die DVD hat leider einen kanadischen Ländercode und ist daher für uns nicht abspielbar (3 verschiedene DVD und Blueray-Player probiert). Trotzdem bleibt die Band einsame Spitze!
