2 Pack National N235-291 Closed Bar Holder for 2X4 - Zinc Plated (SP14BC)

These bad-boys were perfect for me needs. I built a 20 foot wide double-swinging gate out of redwood for my RV entrance to my backyard, and even though I built it pretty 'stout', the length and the wind and the reality that you really can't find 'huge' cane bolts meant that it was a little weak in the middle. I really struggled to find some good hardware that is designed for a couple of 500+ lb swing gates.To reinforce the middle against the wind, etc., I was thinking that just a 2x4 cross bar on the inside would be the way to go - I don't need (or want) to have the gate really openable from the outside anyway. This worked like a champ. I bolted the things on with carriage bolts and went with a cheap 'undersized' 2x4 from the orange box store to be a little easier to slide in & out, but just enough to 'stick' and not be able to rattle out if someone tried from the outside. Worked perfect.

Not much to say about bent pieces of metal with holes in them. They work for what they are designed for....security bars on my fallout shelter/SHTF hideout. No one and no thing is getting in there. Survival relies on proper planning.....and water, can't live without water.

Simple, good price, gets the job done. I use on garage side door. Trivia: the 2X4 you use to go through the two braces is called a Katybar, as in "Katie bar the door!" Goes back to a king of Scotland I believe. One device was marketed by that name, bar made of steel, went from brass keeper on the door to brass plate on the floor at about 45* angle.

Sturdy and just as expected. Works well on our gate.

Great idea for affordable protection at home. Simple to operate. No moving parts to fail and no power needed.
