Delightful and easy read!
I am super excited to be sharing this book review! Enneagram Ashton @enneagramashton was the first Enneagram Instagrammer I ever followed. I have been a fan since she only had about 10k followers, and now she has 285k followers (and growing!). She is one of my favorite Enneagram experts, and her book is a reflection of her genuine desire to help others and share her expertise with the world. The Enneagram for Relationships by Ashton Whitmoyer-Ober is a delightful, easy read that guides the reader in a deep dive into each Enneagram type. For each type, she covers work relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, and familial relationships. As a Five, I felt the chapter accurately described my type - the good, the bad, and the ugly. I'm not a beginner to the Enneagram, and it still offered me some new insight. This book provides one of the most comprehensive descriptions of each type, without delving into wings, subtypes, or levels of integration. Each chapter is full of gems - what it's like to date each type, practical tips for being your best self, and relationship strategies. Other special features of the book include examples of famous people for each type, common mistypes, and insights into childhood. It is useful to both the person wanting to learn more about their own type and those who want to better understand others. Finally, I appreciate her encouraging conclusion. We all need self compassion and the encouragement to keep learning.Ashton's voice is audible on every page, and like her Instagram she is authentic, encouraging, and optimistic. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to deeply understand the nine Enneagram types.

Loved it!
If you know me, you know I am obsessed with the Enneagram. I like to understand all the sides especially the shadow or unhealthy sides because I think that is where I feel most exposed and where I can really check in with how I'm doing. I suggest you pick up this book ASAP!

From an engaged person, read if you’re engaged/newlywed!
What I really appreciated about this book is the way in which it helps you understand how behaviors may be similar but motivations for behavior are different for different numbers. If you can see yourself very strongly in multiple numbers, this book will clarify that. She sets up her chapters in a way that allows simultaneous comparison to other numbers during explanations on how specific numbers react or seem to others. This was especially helpful for making sure you know your correct number! And of course, knowing yourself and your partner better only increases the likelihood of a healthy relationship. I highly recommend this for engaged couples/newly married couples, as well, as it is illuminating in ways other enneagram books haven’t been with regard to relationships. What better way to set your relationship up for better success than to understand yourself and your partner better!

Very underwhelmed. Don’t recommend
I’m not a big one for reviews, but I felt like I needed to make an exception here. I’ve studied the enneagram for 20 years and it has been a very valuable tool for both self-improvement, my marriage, and parenting. I love learning and was excited to read this book. I was disappointed and underwhelmed at what I read. If you have even the most basic understanding of the enneagram, you will learn nothing here. It reads as though explaining the enneagram to a 12 year old, is rife with oversimplifications, contradictory statements, and even outright incorrect information. Example: in the introduction to type 5, she states that fives are motivated by a need to be seen as competent or intellectual by those around them (which isn’t accurate at all). However, on the very next page, she says that fives are not at all concerned with how others view them. The “advice” for how to improve yourself, regardless of which type you are, is laughably oversimplified. Basically things like “if you’re feeling anxious, try to figure out why you’re feeling anxious and then stop feeling anxious”. I wish I could feel good about returning this book, but I did read the entire thing (in the hopes it would get better or offer some applicable advice), so I did get the product I paid for, so I don’t feel ok about returning for a refund. But I would not recommend it anyone who is looking to better their relationships or even learn about the enneagram.

Not bad
This could be a handy reference once you know your type and that of someone you care about. As a book for reading straight through, though, most of the info applies to other types of course

Five Stars!!
I felt the authors passion from her heart and soul as I read! As an enneagram beginner, this opened my eyes up to other enneagram types and how they deal with relationships as a whole. Helped me better understand my husbands ticks specifically as a type 3. I truly enjoyed reading this book, read it all in a day - couldn’t put it down! Absolutely recommend buying!!!

Excellent
One of the best books I've read so far explaining the enneagram, what motivates each type, and what to focus on for growth.
