Silver Alloy Freewheel Hub Rear Wheel (27X1 ¼-Inch)

I've got a bike I bought at Gary King's in Anchorage back in 1986. It's a big 27-inch frame and was likely a dinosaur when I got it. The store had it marked down. Must have been a bunch of short people in before me. Whatever. I loved the bike. Burly. So I've ridden it hard over the years. I'm no long distance rider, but I do go for long jaunts. But my old wheel kept popping spokes. It was a replacement aluminum. Likely reached its depreciation arc. So I couldn't repair the wheel without welding the back sprocket assembly and using a chain wrench to remove it. I read this other guy's review and liked what he had to say on this wheel. My one concern was its cost. Too cheap. What the hell's the catch? Turns out nothing. I just returned from 20 miles freezing my butt off and the wheel is perfection. A little wider than I'm used to but all it required was a little brake adjustment. Two thumbs up.

Good wheel for the price suitable for older bike restoration. Comes with little bearings greese and tight cone. You will need to regreese the bearings and adjust the cone.

Product fits like a charm, it is not the same as photo however. It's a newer style double walled deep well, not single wall like the photo. I added a photo of the same rim just front wheel.Other than that the rim was true , shipped quickly, and the freewheel went right on.

I should have bought a new wheel from a local bike shop but I thought it'd be more convenient to get a new one delivered to my house. It would have been convenient if the wheel were ready to use out of the box. But the wheel was so badly out of true that I couldn't install it and ride. So I ended up going to my bike shop anyway to true the wheel.

Wheel came true, but was not properly tensioned. I made the mistake of just checking the alignment and a quick finger tension test before installing. After the install, I got on my bike and I could hear the majority of the spokes flexing. Instead of being able to enjoy my ride on my brand new wheel, I had to spend an extra hour tensioning the wheel while keeping it in alignment before I considered it safe to ride. Brand new, pre-aligned wheels should come ready to ride instead of needing extra steps when this wheel needed. Good price and good deal, but if I had known, I would have gladly paid more to have my time back.

This is a 5 Star product because this is the best wheel I've seen in this price ranged. It's fairly light-weight. You can adjust the cones so that the wheel spins a little better. For this price range this is a 5 Star product. I used this for an older vintage racer that a friend uses to commute on. I have 3 other 1970's entry level road bikes that I don't want to dump a ton of money into, but I want to make rideable and have decent gear on them. I will be purchasing more of these wheels for them. Excellent product for this price point.

SS Spokes would have been better, but for the price, these wheels are good. I installed them on an vintage road bike to replace my steel wheels. These perform great. They were lightweight, provide a better braking surface than chromed steel, are already trued (at least in my case), and had the skewers for the quick release.

The wheel arrive untrue and poorly packaged. Hub was scratched externally and does not spin true either; this can be seen in extreme wobble on the freewheel body. Last issue was that when the wheel would reach high speeds there would be a loud whirring noise coming from the hub.Poor construction overall, I returned this product once for a replacement and the second attempt had the same exact issues. Returned again for refund. Would not recommend.
